Skyrim Devorce

But they won't make you any money. Besides, you can always RP infedelity when you and Lydia go off on your little "adventures". Ysolda'll never find out. In the end it all comes down to personal preference, and I prefer a wench that makes money rather than sitting at home stirring pots all day.

Speaking of, I'm trying to be the best Dragonborn I can be. I go out of my way to help people in need, I never steal and I always give begging bandits a chance to run away (thought they never do. Idjuts). In saying that, the next time I see Faendal walking out of my house in Whiterun as I'm coming in him and Camilla are losing their heads.

I would rather have lydia as a wife and run around with Serana (Dawnguard) But cheating? In a video game? that is crossing some invisible line in my mind..

You've decapitated countless bandits but you're afraid of a little affair? C'mon. Nobody will ever know. Seriously though, divorce option would be nice. Not on account of "I'm getting tired of my old lady" or anything, but the fact that a spouse can die an you're SOL when you get over her a day later and wanna remarry.

Yeah, because you can't remarry. Well if you kill her. But killing her is the only way to divorce her. Well it's not divorce, it's murder. But I believe you cannot remarry.
and when I attempt this she apparently falls to her knees and doesn't die..

Ysolda is an essential character, so she cannot die. This was because she kept dying during "A Night to Remember" quest and people did not like her dying. So Bethesda made her an essential character, to prevent her death.

Forgot to tell you that.

Don't even know what that quest is... or how to get it... once it is completed can she die?

Essential indefinitely after the patch, I believe. And as for the quest, just visit the taverns a lot.

Correction, after the quest she is no longer essential. I had to look that one up.

So... she can die?

According to UESP, but only after the quest. But like we said, there's no remarrying. My advice would be to keep her around at least until they patch in divorcing/remarrying. Unless you've maxed out expensive skills like enchanting and (sometimes) blacksmithing, that extra scratch will come in handy. Talos knows we get more than enough money as it is, but they may add a ridiculously expensive player home castle or something in the future.
