Games have invaded practically every medium in modern society, even role-playing games.

Its for people that enjoy RPG's, or a good game in general... thats all.

Or hell, its really for anyone with enough money to buy the game.

No accounting for taste I'm afraid.

There's been a couple of studies done on gamers and gaming in Australia, and the 'average' gamer is a 30 - 32 year old middle class professional, married, with kids.

Gaming doesn't make you a nerd...perhaps how you relate to them, and to the other aspects of your life may, but that is dependant upon circumstances. I'm a long-term in-house beta tester with another gaming company, and I put a lot of hours into that, but it doesn't make me a nerd, in fact, it's hard work and time consuming, and at times not much fun.

Edit:

Arena was for fans of computer games, Daggerfall was for fantasy nerds, Morrowind was for fantasy nerds, Oblivion was for fantasy fans, Skyrim was for fans of computer games.

The reason Skyrim is so different is because nowadays computers are more toy and less tool and everyone has one, so games are made for normal people (so to speak), back in the day the kind of people who played computer games were DnD fans (I am guilty as charged). I posted a more indepth response to a similar question in a thread in CD.

dont say u fail at life. Everyone is good at something  be happy
and i dont think calling urself a moron is appropriate....
plus, playing games = not nerd nor geek. its a hobby.

Nerd definition: A person who is very good at academic, well thats what i think
geek: someone who tries to be nerd but fails

in other words, nerds succeed in life. They are the ones in high schools that are laughed upon by the Cool people, but its them who became rich and famous people(investors, businessman etc etc) later on. As for the cool people? Skooma dealers

On the contrare *ahem* Geeks qualify for MENSA, Nerds join.

Geeks are the friendly Neighbhood scientist who did cool, and possibly illegal things, in his basemant for his personal enjoyment/interest (Exhibit A: Doc Brown)
A nerd is someone who uses his academia for financial gain and social status, and as such aren't as popular at parties.

EDIT: In seriousness, the difference between a geek and a nerd is whether the person calling them names is an [censored] or not.

"Nerd" is such a loosely used word just about everyone is one. I definately have nerdy habits, but I also do many other things that arn't nerdy. Seriously though, who gives a [censored]?

Whenever I'm feeling particularly nostalgic, mostly during the big debates about how older TES games are great role playing games, I go dial up a MUD.

Now THAT is nerdly behavior.

I may need to get out the house more often.

It's a high fantasy video game with sword-and-sorcery combat and elves and dragons.

Of course it's for nerds.

I guess I'm a bonafide nerd without glasses. I don't mind being called a nerd either. I don't take it as an insult or view it negitivity either.
I don't like Bill gates but I just love his quote “Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.”

I love Skyrim and I am proud of being a PC gamer. I may not get out that much but at least I'm not out breaking the law or getting drunk.

Also what we don't realize is that these games are actually training our minds to be better at focusing, paying attention and to help develop our strategy skills that can be very benefitial in the real world.

I've always prefered RPG's to shooters. And I've always prefered wizards, druids and other casters to warriors. So if that makes me a nerd, so be it.
