Skyrim Game of the Year - They having a laugh? What you thin

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 8:00 am

Honestly does anyone actually think this game deserves Game of the year?

I like Skyrim a lot but in no way does it deserve Game of the year.

I know this is a Skyrim forum and most people will support it but what do people think?

Debate.......GO

No it shouldn't, its good for what it is, but what it is, is a dumbed down elder-scrolls game.

Yes, fully deserved.

And this has been discussed to death around here already. Use the search button next time.

I like Skyrim alot but no, no GOTY for this one because it's nothing special when compearing it to Oblivion.
My GOTY would go to Deus Ex Human Revolutions. That's MY opinnion.

Yep. In terms of sheer content it beats every single game released this year. Every single one.

It's a fact.

Easily so.... regardless of gripes, most gamers will be hard pressed not to cram atleast 30-40 hours of enjoyment out of Skyrim... which is pretty much epic for any single player game these days. Then add up gorgeous graphics, awesome music and a rich gameworld and I think the conclusion is all but foregone.

Really, the only thing I can see beating it in terms of "getting your money's worth" are multiplayer games. For some I guess the bugs takes away the throne, but I have been playing TES:Games since arena... if bugs bugged me, I wouldn't buy one... I have bought them all.

For me its game of the year. I dont care about rinse and repeat FPS and I stay on PC. Then there is no competition at all

So is that how we measure the worth of a game now days? The amount of content rather than the quality of the content?

The main quest (something which should be priority for any game developer) can be permanently broken in so many ways, so no, definitely not. Bugs like that just shouldn't be acceptable. I don't understand why it scored so high critically with the absurd amount of bugs it had upon release.

Yay for injecting something into a quote which was not said. It is obvious what he meant, so why not take it at value and argue it properly instead of inventing statements and debating them?

I think it's a good game, but there are many things that hold it back from being truly great in my opinion.

I have only recieved to serious issues in this game and both had easy work arounds (yay for pc and command consoles) but at the same time they would have been quest breaking otherwise and this was after the last two patches so no, no goty however I dont have anything to compare (i'm only a hard-core gamer when it comes to elder scrolls games)

No game has been as deserving of a GOTY as Skyrim in my opinion. Not just game of the year, but game of the last 10 years for me. And best game of all times (shared first place with Morrowind).
The amount of content, the beautiful art direction and graphics, the great atmosphere, the variety in dungeons and quests... it blows everything I've played for years out of the water. I'll be playing this game for years to come. :tes:

Infamous 2, portal 2, GEARS OF WAR 3!!!!

All great games.
If it wasn't for skyrim it would have went to one of these.

But skyrim is just outstanding FOR ME.
It was everything I wanted, oblivion was my fav game before this, and this has taken that mantle. And for that

Skyrim isy GOTY

ok so why is Skyrim a better game than say Dark Souls? Dark Souls has a lot to it also. Massive open world game, its extremely challenging, takes many many hours to complete, great graphics. In terms of playability you could play it over and over again and it gets harder and harder.

Thoughts from anyone who has played both?

Skyrim defiantly deserves game of the year. Never have I played a game that I have played for almost 200 hours and still had fun with it. I find myself always going back to this game out of all my other's. All the annoying bugs and glitches aside, this game is amazing. Heck, I even restarted an 80 hour character because I didn't get A Cornered Rat quest had had much more fun than I ever did on my first character. This is defiantly Game of the Year for me, and it seems alot of people agree.
