Skyrim New Game plus

You want to go through the Thieves Guild questline with nightingale armor, to be rewarded with nightingale armor?

Well, just to play Devil's Advocate, somebody mentioned that some people like to play the game for the stories, not so much for getting new equipment. Also, maybe the idea isn't to play the game second time around and play the same quests. I.e., start a warrior, play the Companions, and so forth, then retire at level 40. Start a new warrior-thief or something, with the intention of playing through quests you didn't do with the previous character, but you get a bit of a boost by having the first character's (non-unique) equipment available.

I don't think it's a good idea, but I guess I can see why some might want such a thing.

I'm game. Cut out the weapons and equipment though and just leave it with just levels and stats. I've only made two characters in this game since I got it in November. I tried to make a new character but the leveling up of pretty much just the magic was a massive turn off for me. And none of the quests left a replay impression enough for me to have a burning desire to struggle through them at a low level again, excluding the Dark Brotherhood. The only thing that motivated me to make a new character was Dawnguard... And I started too early making em since I don't want to explore, or do any quests, or anything until AFTER Dawnguard. I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would.

I sort of agree with you OP. Though, why not take it one step further? I've always thought it would be cool, if after you beat the main storyline, you could make a different character, just for doing side quests and existing in the world, lorewise much different with Alduin gone.

I would just like an unlocked "uber difficulty."

Say you get to level 25-30, then unlock a difficulty setting above master. I'd be for that, master is too easy by then anyways.

Oooh. Now there's an interesting idea. Have a permanent shared world, with multiple characters within that world? That could be interesting, although it could get a bit messy in terms of keeping things straight. Not a bad idea, though. It would be almost like - don't start throwing stuff at me, folks - the way an MMORPG has a world shared simultaneously by multiple users. Well, instead of multiple users you could have multiple characters for one user sharing the same world. Or you could even have a world shared with friends only. "Hey, my mage is gonna go take out that Necromancer hideout tomorrow, Bob. Could you take your warrior and clear out that annoying bandit stronghold nearby some time tonight? Thanks, I don't wanna be bothered with those guys."

That's a thought. Of course from there it's only a small step to just having co-operative or even team play. Not like an MMORPG, where you're potentially running into a zillion people you don't know, and possibly having to deal with PVP issues. Just you and your picked buddies, moving through a shared game-world, but shared only by your group. Other people would have their own game-world. It would combine the virtues of a computer RPG with the shared group fun of a pen-and-paper RPG. Voice chat would be necessary, though, unless you really like typing chat messages to party members.

This conversation just took an interesting turn, I think.

Considering how you can't actually complete a TES game, not in the conventional way at least I am going to say. No.

I think that there should ne a new game plus option where you start off a new game from your original character, at level one but there is a chest with your equipment. This way you'll be able to experience everything else with better equipment.

The containers and equipment already exist: the dead bodies and their stuff you pass by during the opening sequence... :)

I suppose so. I just thought it could be a nice little reward and incentive to level a bit.

That would be awful at level one IMO, I don't see how people even do it on master. Taking 50 hits to kill a mudcrab while it one hits me seems silly and tedious.
