The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Skyrim was nominated as the Game of The Year, by one of the biggest Polish Game Portals [CD-Action]. Skyrim is nominated in two categories. Game of The Year as well as RPG of The Year. I would like to ask everyone to vote for Skyrim! Let's show that we are a strong society!

Not my number one choice as RPG of the year, since it's not even an RPG.

its more of an action adventure game. you can choose what you look like and how you fight, but that's it. You are only ever given two choices:consider it done or not now. there is usually only one way to beat a quest.

well there are several means to the end, and you can chose to play whatever way you'd like, not just the way you fight.

you can run everywhere, walk, spend time talking to the characters, ignore them and just go for the quests, you chose which quests you want to do,
you can chose to get married, or not, you can create any personality for your character that you want.

if you chose to play it as an action adventure and focus on playing the game rather than playing with your character, thats fine though, but I still think of it as an RPG

little bugs are in every game of course, I can't say the same for not being able to complete the main quest or items stuck in the inventory, not counting lags and bad ports (ps3), so yea let's name some: batman arkham asylum, mortal kombat, duke nuker forever, forza motorsport 3 just to name those i bought this year.

also, show me some bugs in lucas arts' monkey island (dated 1990), i don't recall not being able to finish it, or not being able to finish Doom or Duke Nuken 3d, how bout final fantasy XIII or Alan Wake to name some recent ones, i never got stuck once in them.

None of those are open ended RPGs with thousands and thousands of different possible quest combinations.

When given a quest, what can you do? Gladly accept it, and in some circumstances, say not now, but it starts the quest anyways. Most of the time there is all of one way to do a quest. This is why I don't think it really deserves RPG of the year because it lacks all the RPG elements. Standard Game of the year is a different story. The only way to shape your character in this game is to deny quests you don't want to do. If I am a "good, lawful" kind of guy, I should be able to do a bad quest and give it a good spin to it. Those kind of quests are rare. For example, I can't do anything about the Thieve's Guild. They say they can't afford to send guards down the Ratway, but why not me? I'd do it!

Skyrim doesn't deserve the GOTY

There is just too much broken in it yet. I don't see people getting golden medals for "almost finishing the race" and whatnot.

t
They make games with RPG elements, yes. They're not primarily RPG games. Action-Adventure is a more fitting label, as the primary elements are the exploration and the combat.

Well, honestly, making pure RPGs is what got Bethesda this close to bankrupt status. Morrowind was created to be more action oriented and was a commercial success.

What does it matter, anyway? GotY means nothing and even if it did, Skyrim doesn't deserve the title.
I haven't played Witcher 2 yet, so I'm not going to vote at all. Can't decide when I don't know one of the games.

This, it's more of an action adventure game, almost all the RPG elements are dumbed down to please the casual crowd.
