Skyrim in one wordsentence

Describe Skyrim in one word/sentence.

My turn:

FETCH

Reason/Rant: I got Skyrim recently and I put like 38 hours in it. The whole this is "fetch this, fetch that" with no innovation what so ever. What did Skyrim introduce into gaming world? Honestly, I can't see how Skyrim won several GOTY award from several publishers. How this clunky, unbalanced, repetitive bore can hold a candle against other 2011 games like "Portal 2" (just compare the voice acting), "Batman Arkham City" (Just compare the animation), "Witcher 2" (Just compare the combat) is beyond understanding. Sorry for the rant, but I had to release my anger somewhere.

And Bethesda, PLEASE, FOR GOD'S SAKE, hire more [censored] voice actors. I've been in like 4 major towns and all I hear the same voice on all NPCs. It's beyond annoying. Go play GTA IV and see how they did the voice acting. Go play Arkham City and see how they did the animation. Go play Portal 2 and see how they did puzzles.

Oh, and if you won't allow us to kill kids, at least don't make them annoying brats with annoying voices! Just don't! I don't wanna hear that stupid brat saying: "Another wanderer, come to lick my father's boots, good job." every [censored] time I happen to pass him.

Dude...your topic..,and you can't use one word..like you asked for in the post title.

Wow.

No wonder you can't even figure out the lure and awesomeness that is Skyrim.

Soooo, you want one company to do what three other companies independantly did very well? I don't think you quite understand how game design works...

My one word: Breathtaking.

Fail. An epic one. GTA IV had great animation/ragdoll physics beside superior voice acting too. Arkham City had great voice acting beside great animation too. Portal 2 had innovation and superior voice acting beside great puzzles too.

Oh, thanks others for their input. I'm happy at least you guys have fun playing Skyrim.

Fun

Sure, Skyrim has problems like the only choice in any major quest being the Civil War but both sides end up being the same after the Battle of Whiterun quest. But it was fun. You can actually mix and match skills, creating a class unique to YOU. I'm an assassin right now that has awesome combat ability and joined the Companions. That was viable with my 2:3 Health to Stamina ratio that I picked for MY character.

Things like combat were improved upon like the addition of Dual Wielding, Dual Casting, Kill Moves, etc. But it's still Elder Scrolls, where a head shot with an arrow that goes THROUGH the guy's head still doesn't kill them. We weren't expecting a total overhaul from Oblivion, just a few major changes in the method of combat.

Things like animation...you should see Morrowind. Animation is HORRIBLE. Absolutely HORRIBLE. But it's still a solid game and what many fans consider to be the best Elder Scrolls. Personally, I think it's Oblivion modded but that's a different story.

Voice acting was never good in the Elder Scrolls. I get that you recycle voices but you have to! For every single person, especially ones you don't even initiate dialogue with, to have different voices? Portal 2 is a terrible example as well. There are only 10 characters for voices. TEN. Their voice acting is superb but there are only TEN characters and many of them only show up for one section and leave. Others are voiced by the same person (Turrets, by GLaDOS voice actress).

As for puzzles, yeah, I agree. But at least we had puzzles. Oblivion had no puzzles to speak of in the random dungeons. Skyrim at least had puzzles, simple as they are.

One word: Decent.
One sentence: A decent game with many glaring faults (that still somehow managed to keep me playing for 400 hours 0.o).

Thanks for the input, and I'm happy that you have fun with it. But reading you post reminds me of something my father used to tell me back in the day when I was working with him in his workshop as a carpenter: "Son, you can polish a turd as much as you like, but a turd is still a turd." <-- referring to my shabby work.A

Again, no disrespect and all. It just came to my mind.

My first reaction when first booting up the game and heard Jeremy Soule's main theme was just tears of joy.

K if theres really one word, i'd say "Epic"

If theres a phrase i can say i'd say "THATS HOW YOU MAKE AN RPG BIOWARE!!"

Yeah, Bioware is doing shabby work recently (Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 2) IMO. Haven't played the thirst Mass Effect yet. So, can't judge that one yet.

Lacking.

You signature is awesome! :)
