Skyrim - Return of the Blades

You mean Fallout 3?

My problem with the Blades is that they're underdeveloped. They just show up and you're supposed to care about what they think while they give you orders you may not necessarily want to follow, and this just makes them come off as a bunch of unlikeable jackasses.

No, I'm pretty sure he refers to the Brotherhood of Steel from New Vegas. Bro status, very hard to come by with them.

No I do not want a Blades dlc. You don't know how much I hate Delphine and Esbern. They come off as a bunch of [censored]s.

I lost intrest in helping the blades after they asked you to do that and refuse to help you otherwise. Unfortunately they are essential. With my roleplay Dovahkiin I had to protect that so I unfortunately had to get rid of the blades. 'Setessential' on the console.

They're not really supposed to be bros. They're technology worshipping, xenophobic [censored]s. That's their whole schtick. That's always been their thing. The BOS in Fallout 3 were the lame ones. Generic knights in shining armor out to do good in the world and share technology freely. Beyond that they got very little characterization and it's just hard to care about them or their cause. Kinda like the Blades in Skyrim.

Just posted a perfect build for this kind of add-on and faction play through.

Also in it's own topic.

I definialy support the idea of the Blades expantion DLC. The way of Blades needs to be able to choose wether they wipeout the dragons, or become friends with some of them to get help from dragons to fight against Thalmor. It needs more detailed quests with dragons and Thalmor all together. If this would happen, it needs to the beggest expantion for the Skyrim!!!

I like the old blades who protected the Emperor. They were a lot better at that than the Penitus Oculatus.
They are not true Blades. True Blades would protect the Dragonborn no matter what.

well at least they have something in common:
Spoiler
They both cant protect the Emperor from Assassins

I would only like a Blades DLC if you dont have to kill Dragons for them. Its unreasonable and illogical to kill the person who helped you all the way and made your success possible in the first place.

Yes, but I got through them, and I am one assassin. At least the Blades of old killed about a dozen of them.

Well, at this point there is no other way but to just kill dragons, but there may be some hope to expantions for those who love dragons ( including me ).
This is because, remember, Alduin revived all the dead dragons with his some kind of shout. Perhaps dovahkin could learn the same shout to revive dragons, and make them work with dovahkin to fight against Thalmor. With their help, Thalmor won't bother skyrim ever again.

Well, considering the Blades have become focused on the genocide of all dragons, I can't imagine a DLC about them offering anything particularly new. Sure, you'll be killing different dragons, but that in and of itself isn't a huge radical shift worth spending another 20 bucks on.

On the other hand, if you could to tame the dragons and bring them under your rule (and possibly convince them to follow the Way of the Voice), that'd be much more interesting. Especially if you could create your own faction of dragon warriors who fight to help Dov and Joor coexist and only slay the ones that refuse this offer (be they Joor or Dov), and then give you the chance to either eliminate the Blades or convince them to come into the fold (difficult speech check), that could be something of interest. Especially if you can recruit a large number of people into your group and have them planted throughout Skyrim as spies and informants, sending you letters to start new sidemissions and whatnot.

I thought they were ok until they asked me to kill my buddy Paarthy and won't talk to me until I do. Childish behavior, if you ask me. I have plenty more field experience of dragons than they, they won't even bother to talk to Paarthurnax themselves and hear his side of the story. They have been searching for a dragonborn to follow, they found one, and then they refuse to listen to me even though I most likely know what I'm talking about.

Idiots.

When I played through that part and they said that, I was actually pretty down about it.. after that is when I decided I wasn't helping them anymore. I agree that it's pretty pathetic of them.

I agree with you the Blade storyline in Skyrim is lame and underdevelopped . Beth could and should do something about it. The minimum is the ability to recruite new members whom you can take with you on your adventures...

In fact that topic gives me an idea to expand on my personal Companion Mod...hehehehe

Some people (myself included) don't care whether the Blades continue or not.. due to their behavior, there's a lot of negativity towards them. Back in Oblivion I had a high respect for them (Baurus and Jauffre were my favorite characters) but unfortunately Delphine and Esbern are easily my least favorite.

I like the old blades who protected the Emperor. They were a lot better at that than the Penitus Oculatus.
They are not true Blades. True Blades would protect the Dragonborn no matter what.

This addresses both how I felt in Oblivion towards them, to how I feel about them in Skyrim. You may not have been Dragonborn in Oblivion, but at least they were doing their duties..
Spoiler
Baurus even took Uriel's assassination personally, and tracked down the Mythic Dawn in the Imperial City

Being that the Penitus Oculatus is a pure imperial organization, I doubt they're too far spread.. the only reason they're in Skyrim at all is because
Spoiler
Dragon Bridge has their only established outpost in the province.. we don't even know if they're in another province

Also, a little off topic: Can you still do the Civil War questline if you do the peace conference? I might try something I read in another thread regarding Delphine.

Whatever "peace" you get from the conference is a temporary ceasefire that ends (in theory) once the MQ is over. After that you can pick up the CW stuff where you left off or start it if you haven't already.

Alright thanks.. I only did that quest once but I reloaded an earlier save, so I usually just skip it.

This
Blades: "We are here to find and serve the Dragonborn."
Dragonborn: "Good to have you on my side."
Blades: "Kill Paarthurnax!!!"
Dragonborn: "No, he helped quite a few times and is a friend."
Blades: "Get away, we wont talk to you ever again!!!"
Dragonborn:
