Skyrim is the best TES isn't it?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 9:16 am

Ok, so I've been on these forums for a while now, and it seems to me lots of people are complaining. Why? I've been playing Skyrim on the Ps3 for quite some time now, and even with its lag and bugs, the game is as good as ever. Don't base a game on its technical problems, those can be fixed. Base a game on its entertainment and the fun of playing it. Skyrim is the best TES ever, Morrowind and Oblivion are crap compared to it. I guess my real point of this post is to ask why people think Morrowind and Oblivion are better? Skyrim is improved in graphics, gameplay, length, entertainment, AI, character customization, weapon varity, voice acting and much more. So, why are poeple saying OB and MW are better?

No, Skyrim is not the best TES. If it were, I'd have absolutely no interest in TES. I think that's Morrowind/Bloodmoon.

Skyrim has worse gameplay than Morrowind, worse magic system, worse character building, worse quests, worse UI... you know, all the things that are important to an RPG. Skyrim is casual and dumbed down to the point of not being much fun.

Opinion.

I think Skyrim is the best, and I've had far fewer technical issues on release than I had in OB and MW, after I bought them a while after release.

Skyrim has most potential. Overall it's the best TES right now, undoubtedly.

I fail to see how MW is better than Skyrim. You could beat it in like, 15 mins. Could you tell my how it's better?

EDIT: I don't agree with you about any of that.

There were things I loved about Morrowind but also a lot of things I didn't like. I've always wanted to be in the Nord homeland; I like it. It's everything I wanted it to be. I've got over 60 hours in and I haven't even gone to see the greybeards yet. Having a blast. For me, this is the best TES game. I'll still go back and replay Morrowind and Oblivion, but, even with the bugs, I'm enjoying this one very much.

I meant the weapons look more epic. And I do believe that skyrim has better variety.

You mean as a speed run using exploits and skipping the entire game? Good argument.

It's the vocal minority complaining, the people who actually like the game are playing it.... except for me of course!!

I wish to say Skyrim, but it's too causal. I will have to wait for mods.

I'm not sure yet. Morrowind is my nr1 game of all time to be honest, but I've played it so much I'm kind of done with it now. I regularly go back to it though, but only to absorb the atmosphere and do a few quests here and there, I can't seem to stick a hundred hours at a time into it anymore. I have stuck hundreds and hundreds of hours in that game though, and that's a hard thing to beat.
Skyrim is new and shiney, so it's got that going for it. There's still so much I haven't seen and done yet. I love the setting as much as Morrowind's setting though, and I can see myself spending a long, long time playing this too. Whether it will replace Morrowind as my fovorite game of all time? Ask me again in ten years or so, then I can tell you if I played and loved it as much as Morrowind ;)

+ infinity.

I've played a lot of RPG and adventure games. Generally, all TESes before TES:S were below par. They were ugly, wooden, stilted, repetitive, and just plain stupid.

TES:S is a proper adventure game. (It leaves a lot to be desired in the RPG department, but no less so than in previous TES installments. Arguably, it's actually taken a few steps forward in some ways.)

It has a lot of flaws, but nothing that's game-killing.

It's not as boring as previous games. Anyone who wants to go back to 'old-school' TES is nuts. That's your answer: people say OB and MW are better because they're nuts.

Uh oh! Don't say Skyrim is good or else all the Morrowind hipsters will flame you! :P
But srsly, I really can't pick favorites haha! It's like asking me who I like more, my right nipble or my left nipble.

It doesn't matter whether you do or don't, they're just the facts. You obviously have not played Morrowind. Lol @ you thinking the game lasts 15 mins.

Skyrim is the best TES isn't it?

Thats for you to decide.

To me it isn't. To others it is. There's no objective way to say Skyrim is the best. All you're going to get in this topic is opinions.

If you had the most fun playing Skyrim than any other then it's the best one for you.

I'm nowhere near done and yes I believe it is. More wind was eh, decent. Couldn't really get into it. But I really enk
Moyer OB for what it was and the freedom, and looking past the graphics. But SK is very fun and with a few patches will be great.

God I hope they patch the resistances so I can finally use my storm atronach and chain lightning!!!

I think it's the best one so far. The opening weeks are usually buggy for TES games and inspire a lot of hurt feelings and bile from the community, but Skyrim will undoubtedly be remembered as the best one once it's all patched up and the creation kit is out.
