Skyrim is too repetitive

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 5:37 pm

I agree, Oblivion wasn't like this as it had unique quests, storyline and enemies, but for Skyrim its all about Draugr everywhere I go. As well as unbalanced classes, I'm a lvl 25 or something assassin/thief and I can run up to people without them noticing then when I kill their buddy they don't even care or notice and I'm doing it like on every quest.

Nope, game can't be repetitive because you choose how to play it. If you do the same thing over and over again, then it's repetivite but that's why you have great replay value with this game, to tell a story a different way and not the same every time. Don't always go to Riverwood or Whiterun at the beginning, go some place different like Falkreath, Markarth or Riften.
So wrong here. Even though I can choose how to play the game is limting me in how I can actually play it. SO yes it can be repetitive and It certainly is after 50 hours...

Seems like you need to switch up your combat tactics OP. Or just take a break and come back later.

I dont think you have been to that many dungeons

they look different and have different enemies
but they all stick to the same linear formula with puzzles and traps that would be considered archaic if it was in any other game. Add this to enemies that only mindlessly attack and u have the formula for repetitive.

Repetition can be a good thing if the games scales correctly and if the core mechanics are fun in their own right. A sandbox open world game without any mechanics is like giving a kid a rock and telling them to use their imagination. The fault I have with Skyrim is not the fact there is a lot of repetition, but that progression is done poorly. I feel that in previous TES games, Morrowind and Daggerfall namely, this was not an issue. The open world is infinitely better in Skyrim, but the mechanics and progression got beat down real badly. They need progression to continue and not stop. The fact they have a static progression system in a non-linear game is outrageous.
