Skyrim Undersea Adventures!

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 2:58 pm

In all seriousness though, I'd really kill to see some more sea creatures and water-themed quests. Not gonna lie, one of my favorite places in the game is down near the East Empire company, yet there's barely anything there. Wouldn't it be cool to be looking across the horizon and suddenly you just see this Leviathan burst out of the water and sink a ship? BING! New quest! I wish. I mean I get that this game is supposed to be centered around land-based combat and dragons. Sure, I get that...but why couldn't there be a little more exploration of the sea?
Spoiler
down near the East Empire company, under the docks, there's actually a chest on the sea bed
I LOVED finding that!

Alright, I know what you're thinking....OP is a big Robert Ballard and Jacques Cousteau fan, that's not the case, I just love the ocean and would love to see more sea creatures.

bumping this thread, because not enough people appreciate sea-life.

you can't force people to appreciate something just because you love it so much....

I agree with you.The seas on skyrim are boring.i never saw a Horker swimming in almost 110 hours of playtrought(the closest horker i saw from the water was getting owned by a Charus). We should be able to find creatures like "weresharks" and "belugas",or just normal sharks.

Perhaps if Atmora is the setting of a dlc we have an epic longboat voyage getting there.

I know what you mean...first I dived into the waters of Skyrim first I was like `Whoa, nice graphics Bethesda!` but then I was like `yeah, that's pretty much it...nice hraphics :/`. But great game anyway! :)

I agree. The wrecked ships on land are wicked cool, but actual sunken ships and boats would add even more depth to this game.

Have you seen all the ice on the surface of almost every single body of water in Skyrim?? The only way I can even make my guy swim across a river is if I role play his Cold Resistance as counting for regular cold as well as magic. I just assume he doesn't get cold :whistling:

I feel sorry for the Khajiit Dovahkiins on Skyrim.

Just imagine...all that fur... and that cold water...brrr... would take forever to dry off.

There should also be an easter egg called "Diving Suit Armor", and it will look like this:

Yeah that's what I'm saying, I've barely seen any sea-life or water-based creatures. Maybe 2 or 3 different species of those small fish and slaughterfish and thats it.

The only way I see this working is bringing back 'touch' destruction spells and allowing daggers to attack underwater. I doubt anyone would be able to swing a warhammer underwater with enough force to kill a kraken. Unless you can also use shouts and use Elemental Fury.

Yeah, they missed an opportunity. There should be water dragons/leviathans that live in the sea, that make you think twice before going into the water.

Fully agree. It svcks tremendously that the only water-only creature that exists is a freaking barracuda and they are very scarce at that too.. So disappointing and boring.

I agree. Spent quite awhile swiming around off the northern coast hoping to find something more interesting than the occaisional shipwreck but no joy. Apparently Skyrims seas are pretty much deserts.

I agree, sort of. Without the ability to swing a sword, it makes sense to not have anything too dangerous in the water (and really, is there a way to deal with slaughterfish other than running away??), but the thing is, has anyone tried to swing... anything, underwater? It sure as hell isn't easy. We need a whole new class of weapon, known as the harpoon, or something similar for this to work. I'll admit though that I still keep a ring of waterbreathing in my bag for the rare occasion I'm going treasure diving, but even when I find underwater chests it's only been worth it on one or two occasions. I wouldn't mind more, but we really need some sort of aquatic combat too for this to be worthwhile. It would have made the one mission for the eastern traders cooler, or some of the ones in the northern areas where there are wrecked ships to explore, that's for sure.

Yeah level 85 elite. Then we'd be looking for a raid in a single-player game lol.

An underwater cave entrance would be really cool to find - not on your map, not a quest, you just stumble upon it - that when you enter, is fully submerged and DARK! No lanterns illuminating the passages now.

Ah well, they missed the boat with this opportunity.
