5 or so hours then again I fully expected the main quest not to be that long, the side quests and misc quests are where its at and if you have the PC version the abundance of mods.

Your missing the point if you decide that Skyrim is too short because the MQ was short. The MQ isn't the point of the game, the game is technically almost infinite, you can just keep doing things, there are people who play for 1000 hours and are still discovering new stuff, and let's not even start talking about mods...

All I can remember is that mine was extremely paced. I was constantly being distracted by other quests and activities, so I think it took me two or three weeks to finish the whole thing. And I was playing constantly. In that first month alone I clocked over 200 hours. That's more than a straight week of playing.

Well I started the main quest last year sometime and eventually got around to finishing it a few months ago, my second character has no intention of finishing the main quest, so really what does the main quest have to do with the length of the game? I am still playing Skyrim with my first character who still has plenty of things to do, despite having done all the quest lines. I started the other two characters because I wanted to do things different ways to what I first did, just to see what would happen. If I think I am still missing out on an experience, I will go start a fourth character, probably on a different platform when the GotY edition comes out. Otherwise I might get bored of playing Skyrim for a year or more.

5 hrs? For the MQ? How in the Hell are you doing that?

I recently started a new character for testing and it took me almost 10 hrs and I wasn't messing around and fast traveling everywhere.

My main save says more than 350 hours, and I am a 360 user with no mods.

Dunno. Been playing since 11.11.11 and never finished the main quest on any of my two characters.

My current character hasn't even unleashed the dragons yet, and i have about 300 hours on that play ...

I could probably do it. All I'd have to do is try to 'beat' the game rather than playing it. I'd click through all the dialogue, fast travel everywhere I went, keep my focus always on the quest marker while avoiding the temptation to explore or smell the roses and finally exaggerate about my speed when trying to make a point about how short the questline is.

Is that including or excluding the distractions?

Who said anything about a second time? Besides it doesn't matter. I'm talking about starting a new character and doing nothing but the MQ. Turning the difficulty down and running through it. Not pressing a speed run, mind you but it sure as Hell isn't no 5 hrs.

EDIT :

Now..you watch. Some 5th grader is busting at the seems to start a speed run and will be posting shortly about how he blew this crap to Oblivion in an 1hr and a half.

The Main Quest was about ... 200 hours for me.
That said, I didn't run straight from x to y, completing the main quest as fast as possible. My character did it very slowly, and it was really enjoyable. Heck, I think I spent about two hours admiring Sky Haven Temple!

Maybe not 5 just alittle over, Skyrim has shortest MQ of all TES series.
