Skyrim - What the game is still missing

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:34 pm

Hi everyone, I just finished all the quests for the bards guild, and i was sadly dissapointed to discover that being able to play instruments is unavailable... :(

On this note, I decided to start a new topic for everyone to voice what bethesda could add/improve in the next patch :)
Feel free to voice your opinions.

skooma that actually does some thing. i remember in oblivion i could drink like 10 bottles of skomma and run across the map in like 15 mins or some thing. and after i took it some of my atribute and skills went doen ( i think skills its been a while). but in skyrim all it does is raise your stamina.

I dont see how TES could make a Bards faction and NOT allow the players to use intstrements.

It's a Bards college the quests should REVOLVE around singing and poetry.

Definitely. One of the things that really made me think, "wow, they really dropped the ball." I mean, you hardly even do a single bardic thing during the entire questline. You're basically the dumb muscle for the bards...nothing more.

Melee or ranged?

I didn't think about that, maybe both.

Equip, RT trigger = melee, LT trigger = block, LT trigger down then RT trigger = bow.

I think you're on to something here.

Perhaps using spoons as the lute's ammo? Enchantable spoons of course.

i agree about the bard thing. Also i think it should expand on the Orcs and their strongholds, the Thalmor and their d0ch3b@ggery, and especially on the dwemer because after Black Reach (i think that is what it is called) i need more

Also if anyone played Two Worlds 2 then that has the best Bard stuff since you can play instruments (mini guitar hero game) for money or even Fable 3 has something acceptable in that department

the bard questline is one i have yet to do.

the fact that you can actually have one that does not involve instruments, poetry and singing is unbelievably ridiculous.

@drake- i only played 2worlds1 (i enjoy the game and like the many thingsit did right) but, i'm going to definitely have to get the second, as well.

Yep they managed to turn a questline revolving around a bards colleage into a series of fetch quests. Missed opportunity there, would of been nice if after completing the college your char could perform in taverns across Skyrim or at least allow you to play a lute.

Melee or ranged?

If they're as harmful to your health as the singing and poetry in the game, then probably both.

I was disappointed with bard's college - started so great then disappeared into a series of oh dear fetch/find this instrument - blah.

and it does not "end". they just do not have any more quests so you get no big speech or sense of accomplishment

Perhaps using spoons as the lute's ammo? Enchantable spoons of course.

But only if you can dual wield them.

The Bard's college aren't any different from a random dungeon quest. But I have no ideas on what would make them Bard-ey. And what would it contribute to your character? While things like cooking, tanning, and smelting don't contribute to level or skill progress, they do lead to things that do--or in the case of food, it serves to enhance survivability. But what would plucking on a virtual lute do? Would you sing lullabies to Draugr and put them into a Calm state? Maybe you could bore a Dragonpriest to death with a horrible poem you composed.

You can actually learn how to play a musical instrument IRL. And most people aren't familiar with how great poetry can be. Learning about and/or doing these things can actually make you a more complete person IRL. In a video game it's just kind of sad.

There's too much missing in my opinion to include in a patch. I would love an option to skip the Tutorial though.

how can you say unarmed (unarmored? lol) perk tree without the obvious h2h (or, unarmored, lol) inclusion?

peanut butter and jelly.
chocolate and raspberry.
rpg mechanics and attributes.
rpg mechanics and character-based gameplay.

I was thinking drumsticks as ammo, craftable from chopped wood and only the lute is enchantable.

So I take it you're missing the lack of crossbows in this game?

It's missing a place to take notes. And the time it actually takes to fast move from place to place. :)
