If we are able to actually smoke cigars, and ciggarrets what would you like to see as far as side effects.

I would like:
1. To be able to get extremely addicted.
2. To get sick, as in slower walking, and weezing
3. Unique dialouge options such as when you would talk to another smoker he would start by saying "Ahhh a fellow smoker, what can I do for you?" or if you are angry you can "[Smoker] (blow smoke in face)" and finally if you talk to a mafia boss he would ask you "Hey you smoke? Here a have cigar. New Cuba's finest my freind."

Knowing how sensitive some countries are it will spark some controversy seeing kids with characters that smoke and seeing ridiculous people saying how Fallout should be banned because it turns kids into smokers. It would be cool but its not really needed. It could work with modding though.

i would want smoking. but as already stated people might say it promotes smoking in children but then agian sence it is rated m it should fall on the parents leting them play the game

What if the game is full of anti-smoking things like are players special becomes addicted? We become addiced, can't carry as much can't go as fast. In hardcoe mode they could make it so we don't heal as fast if addicted. (effects I would like to come from smoking) As well as endurance and agility gets hurt. Really I wish there was no effect from it but to shut up the nuts I will settle for bad things cause by smoking.

I am sick of those people I really am. Games Rated M, we can kill people in very graphic ways. Game will have strippers and prostitution. FO3 has smokes all over, NPC smoke but we can't. I am an advlt I want a game where I can smoke. I also hate how in FO3 drinking has no effect and the drugs don't have the same effects as the originals.

So stupid "My kids mature enough to know it's a game and killing is wrong." But they go nuts if there character can light up a smoke :ahhh: :ahhh:

Yeah. Some nations have also passed laws that stores ain't allowed to sell games to kids under the age rating. And if the parents do it (Which is fine) the blame falls on them

I don't smoke but I think it would be sweet to have some sort of option in Fallout. I think it should just be for looks though.

yes plus we cant smoke yet we can drink and do drugs. this makes alot of sence. kids dont smoke but put a sirenge in ur arm of drugs.

Pretty much it, if I can inject amphetamines into myself why can't I smoke? Drug addiction should factor into dialogue choices as well.

Why would kids be playing Fallout in the first place???

This is true why are we able to inject ourself with who knows what and not smoke. Last I checked heroine addicts tend to turn out worse than tobacco users. :shrug:

I agree with the posts above it does seem stupid that drugs an alchohol wouldn't cause as much controversy but some people have nothing better to do than complain. But I think the difference is that the drugs in the game are necessary because they give the player health advantages where as smoking does nothing but be a cancer stick.

And I think alot of kids play Fallout, I saw that GamesQuake video and it was a little kid playing it he looked about 10 years old. lol

It's the parents responsibilty though if they buy the games for their children then it should be none other than their fault.

I think it should be an option. I think some people need to calm down and let people decide. It's the responsibility of the parent, not the company, if it is rated M and there is content that concerns some.

Although I think it'd be silly if there were conversation options where the person you are talking to is like "Oh, a fellow smoker, what can I do for you?". I've never seen smokers interact that way in real life (maybe I just don't interact with smokers enough), I think it'd be silly if they suddenly show sympathy because you also smoke. There could be speech options such as "Got a light?" to start a conversation or something, but nothing that is just odd.

then if i was the devs then id say so drinking alcohol and doing drugs is ok? the game is rated M for a reason. if the parents have a proplem with it take it away and or dont buy the game.

Is the rating even out yet? When going into the new vegas section there is the rating, It has "drug use" but games that have Tobacco use have to say so right? at least in the states. With the ATF and all.

Also if one county has a problem change it for that country. They already do it. That's why some counties have green blood and not red and one nation wanted Megaton gone.

Edit: the rating is at the bottom, is it final? am I right about it needing to say Tobacco use?

There should be NO effect of smoking.

Yeah I also totally forgot that you could get cigarette cartons and packets of them in Fallout 3 but they wern't useable. I think they were going to put smoking in the game but realised it would be too much of a risk. Also cigarettes are easier to come by than drugs in real life so I think thats one of the reasons why they didn't make them useable.

So why would be able to get addicted to "Jet" or "Phsyco" and not nicotine? That doesen't seen to make sence.
