sneaking around like the sneak you are

I have to disagree. As i thought sneak worked extremely well and i enjoyed it.

Sneak was always one of the first skills I got to a hundred not only did it make scavenging by stealing stuff a lot easier it made combat easier to my character on my first playthru will specialize in sneak guns And repair so I can always be in a good positions and take out the strongest enemy first if possible cause I figured it will make hardcoe a lot easier then just running in guns a blazing like scarface did

You probably had too much confidence in your sneaking. In fallout 3 sneaking was actually pretty realistic. Although I personally never really liked sneaking it did work fine for me on those occasions I wanted to use it.

Yes sneaking was pretty realistic for the most part In the longrum for combat it don't help out very much but just that small advantage it may give me by taking out a high level character first or give me an actually couple shots before a melee charcter can get to me could be the difference between life and death in hardcoe. Mode just because I had a sneak critical and a good place to start fighting just because I was able sneak to a good spot before I start a battle

in fallout 3 the sneak skill was completely useless...i have no idea what they were doing with it. if u can successfully sneak close enough u might get 1 shot in before you get spotted and even at 100 sneak, you still can never sneak right up to the enemy.

anyone know if they will change the sneak skill at all? i wouldn't mind if it was completely removed, but i already saw its still in. fallout just doesnt seem like the game to sneak around in

Your useless

Sneak was overpowered in my opinion 100 sneak or the stealth suit with an adequate weapon or laying of traps lead to mass slaughters of enemies. :ninja:

I had a ranged character with no steal;th abilities, and I had a melee character with high stealth/sneak that went pscyho. There was a distinct difference to the builds.

You must have been doing something wrong. Sneak was crazy good. I never used stealth in any RPG game b4 FO3. I was 1 shot killin' almost everything with a hunting rifle before I was level 10. I felt it was actually overpowered. It had many other benefits too, but I just liked being able to choose when I wanted to start the fight; not step into an area and get rushed by enemies just because they heard the heavy plodding of my feet as I jogged along.

Are you kidding? Sneak was incredibly powerful. Sneak + Chinese Stealth Armor + Melee Weapon = God Mode. You can hit an enemy repeatedly and they will never spot you. It gets old really fast, but it is what it is.

I agree with the above poster; though you may not have cared for it, it is neither useless nor lame.

I know the pipboy light affected sneaking, but the radio should too. If you're walking around tunnels with "bongo bongo bongo" blasting out from your portable ghettoblaster every enemy within 1/4 mile is going to hear you. (sorry if it does affect sneaking, I never really noticed it doing so in FO3)

I have to disagree with you. You can sneak but it never gets to the point where you can be completely undetectable, which is good. You just have to be careful and stay out of line of sight. You can obviously sneak better at night but line of sight is the key thing.

I regularly sneak up to people and mutants and plant grenades on them no problem, and shut down robots. Line of sight, that's the key.

I just assumed you had an earpiece or something along those lines and so you were the only one that could hear it. Not sure what the "official" stance on that is. It seems likely enough, if you've got the technology to project a heads-up display onto your field of vision.

hmm yeah. Thinking about it, it's probably a neural interface kind of thing, direct to brain. I know you can't take your pipboy off without surgery, so maybe that's the case. Thanks.

That could be too, though you would think that the installation of such a neural interface would be a bit more complex and invasive than donning what is, essentially, a suped up Nintendo Power Glove. I'd like to hear a developer's input on this just for the sake of confirmation. Interesting things to ponder, at any rate.

after reading everything i finally figured out what bothered me so much about the sneak skill. the fact that if you want to build a sneak character, thats all he was. its not like he could charge in now that hes built to sneak around.

with low armor he would die quick if he wasnt sneaking and i just like sneaking everywhere, thats why i think

To use the sneak skill effectively you have to move slowly...and I mean SLOW, and its worth it.....nothing like watching some poor raider running around in circles about to explode......

If they change the fact that after the first kill your enemies all know exactly where you are at, then it will be great. I'm a sneak guy, so I want it to be like that.

If you use a silenced weapon, they won't know where you are.
