Sniper Guide 2.0

but since you guys brought it up and i kind of like the idea of being able to have 6 strength and optimal perception, what armor do you use to get good perception?
hmm yeah. i can use boones beret for +1 perception and the +1 implant and pop 2 into strength.. i think i might just do that instead.

The AMR does have some issues with spread at max range.... but the satisfying "BOOM" when it fires makes up for it!

In the case of enemies that do not die in 1 hit with the AMR, I would sometimes switch to my supressed sniper rifle for finishing things off.

i don't know.. honestly i'd rather just carry around a sniper rifle w/ silencer and the gobi instead of an amr.

Yeah, it's undocumented, and yeah, going above 6 is kind of a waste.

Perception also factors into over all accuracy.

And he isn't going for it. Honestly I prefer going round with a silenced sniper- the 5x crit is always useful, not just on first shot from stealth; the ammo is more easily made and fire rate is faster so you don't have to worry if you bite off more than you can chew. Also if something pops up next to you you can squeeze a few out in VATS if need be.

just a little update, if you want to use boones beret for the +1 perception and crit chance, remove one point and put it into int.
remember to adjust your stat distribution into science, repair and medicine by 2 stat points.
you'll also have more points to put into speech or whatever else you want.

Hand Loader is a level 6 perk and that allows the +50% damage .308 shells, you should get it as close to level 6 as you can.
You need 6 strength for a sniper. How early do you think you can get +2 strength power armor or get weapon handling?
Perception is way too high, all you need is a 5 + an implant to get a 6 for better criticals. Boone's hat will take that to 7, but ED-E gives the sensor range a sniper needs.
Bloody mess is a bit of a waste for 5% when you will be using 100% critical attacks with better criticals and +50% damage .308s.

i love bloody mess. nothings more satisfying then seeing that round hit and body parts fly off into every direction? plus 5% damage on a sniper rifle is pretty decent once you take into account all the other bonuses.

you use the guns mentioned underneath the weapons until you have weapon handling, so you can hold off on that perk until you need it.
(ps theres no order to my perks outside of educated, do what you want.)

sure you can get boone and ed-e.. you wont have too, but you can. also on hardcoe they die rather then going unconscious. (ed-e aint that tough!)
also perception effects more then when the ticks show up on your compass. it determines your draw distance (how far you can see npcs)

I'm using Boone / ED-E in HC normal, and with a seven perception the draw distance is already longer than I can snipe. Boone's spotter perk is essential to helping spot and identify distance enemies.
I don't like weapon handling, I think you are better off going + 2 strength and ditch some other perk. Maybe settle for nine luck and 95% critical chance?

i hate when they die.. it always happens too, some token deathclaw comes along thinking he's air jordan and slam dunks ed-e making me reload a save..

how come you don't like weapon handling?
honestly i can't think of any perks i REALLY need to grab.

i could probably drop my luck a bit since i have built to destroy and will be using boones beret. i'll most likely putting the attribute into int tho, lol

oh nice, i can get away with 6+1 and still have 100% crit chance.

7% from luck
3% built to destroy
5% finesse
5% beret
x5 = awesomesauce.

A charisma of one makes your followers weaker, so that could be part of it. With ED-E nothing should ever sneak up to you.
Weapon handling only gives you part of the bonus for two strength, you don't get the skill bonus or the carrying bonus. I'd just assume use to perks to get a natural +2 strength.

it'll give 20 pounds of weight and 4 to melee weapons.. with 10 luck i can rob casinos honestly, and i usually massacre our friends in power armor later in the game and sell their stuff for mass amounts of caps.

i guess weight could be nice but i usually only carry drugs and small amounts of medical supplies.. when i need water on hardcoe i drink out of a sink or something and i only use 2 types of ammo, 5.56 and .308

i can see your point of view but i figure you don't know how i've got my setup.

s 2 +1 +1
p 8 +1 +1
e 6 +1
c 1
i 10
a 7 +1 +1 +1
l 6 +1
+4 dt

built to destroy
trigger discipline

1. intense training: strength
2. educated - int:4
3. intense training: agility
4. intense training: agility
5. bloody mess
6. toughness - end:5
7. toughness - end:5
8. finesse
9. silent running - agi6, sneak 50
10. jurry rigging - repair 90
11. better criticals - per:6, luc:6
12. hand loader - repair 70
13. living anatomy - medicine 70
14. weapon handling - str<10
15. entemologist - survival 45

that's what i'm going to go with i figure. 10 perception for the best draw range, 10 agility for highest speed and reload/swap without the perks and 10 int so my skills get maxed early on.
critique away, just try to give a solid reason eh?

I'm just using common sense, a well maintained rifle, and good game play.

My character is still alive and kicking, so I guess he's an expert then.

I appreciate your effort, good work.

Hardly, I am ex-military spec forces now in law enforcement. Up to a point, what works in the real world tactics wise works in F3 and FNV. In fact, I've got less holes in my hide in FNV that from the RL, lol.
