Sorry, but I'm one of the 'get it right first time' lobby.

People pay good money for a good product. People pay poor money for a poor product. Video game players quite often pay good money for a poor product.

The 'it will be patched' attitude has snuck in with the advent of the internet, and it is being accepted by the younger generation. No offense intended, but you are selling yourselves short, and letting business walk all over you. You do have consumer rights, you know...my generation and those before us worked hard to get those rights, but you are p*ssing them away...

Fallout new vegas is a great game, and it's good to see the developers trying to tackle the bugs in a timely manner, but that doesn't excuse the game being released in such a unpolished state in the first place. Balancing and invisible walls aside, my time with NV has been severely impacted by the sheer number of glitches and broken quests I've run into and it's forced me to play in a disingenuous way, unable to make any major decisions without first checking that I'm not about to screw something up.

Obsidian and Bethesda are big boys (and girls), they've both been doing this for a long time and frankly deserve as much of an earbashing as we care to give them for these patches being necessary in the first place.

To be clear I am not saying that the game being released in such a half baked way is ok. All I am saying is that if you compare New Vegas to other games in the same boat. Say Gears Of War 2 for instance that the patches are coming out reflectively fast.

Gungho1 us Australians pay good money for our games everyone else gets them cheap:)

Sensible post. I think a lot of the problems stem from "instant gratification syndrome." To a lot of people, if something isn't absolutely perfect from the beginning, they'll complain about it in uncivilized and non-constructive ways.

EDIT: And yes, before it's even mentioned, I understand that all of you having problems "paid good money" for this game. I paid money, too. But you have to realize that with something as intricate as game design, problems will (and should be expected to) occur.

DOUBLE EDIT: And on another note, no developer is innocent when it comes to bugs. Fallout 3 had many terrible problems in the early versions. Oblivion suffered problems, as well. Hell, if you want to go back even further in time, Daggerfall is a (very fun) bug-fest, even at the most recent version.

I agree with you both.

80% of all statistics are made up, 45% of the people know that.

I think it more like 90-99% on the interweb personally at lest when they don't post a link, secondly who was asked as I could ask loads of people and get they have no problem with X but they never encountered/used X in there life. Also see advertisemants and read the small print and it turns out that their 9/10 is based on 10-20 customers who are are usually repeat customers.

I do not agree with this at all, your Gears of War comparison is a little flawed simply based on the fact that I have no idea if Gears of War was as flawed as NV is currently. I do not want to, nor should I have to, reset my PS3 and I know for a fact that it is not a good thing to do to a console. It is a very odd path I have taken, because until the last week building up to today I was satisfied with the odd crash - think about that statement for a second - until now I have experienced two in the space of 1 minute. I am not lying, that means I have had to reset my PS3 twice and quite frankly if I get an YLOD because of all this resetting because of this pis-poor programming I will be [censor] furious.

I am refraining from playing it in the case of breaking my PS3, do not give me any of this "software doesn't cause hardware problems", because the last time I checked resetting your console is like thumping your PC with a bat.

EDIT: On reading other peoples replies, I think the people who are satisfied with the odd bug here or odd crash here have not experienced paying £250 for another PS3, nor have they experienced the rife levels of crashing that others have. You are all entitled to your opinion but quite frankly I paid £40 for something that is not even worth half that, I do not care if I should expect it to be 95% perfect which NV is not - In this day and age there is no excuse for such lax effort. I have 23 PS3 games currently and I have never been obligated to go onto a forum, and even almost spout anger to the level I am reaching now. The consequences of this [censor] programming are too high for me.

I am venturing into a profession where I have to perform 100% accuracy or I can possibly accidentally kill people if I am not careful- there is no excuse.

You have no idea how bad Gears of War was yet you say my comparison is flawed, I recommend you do some research before posting. I played GoW2 after the first three updates and even then i found myself getting annoyed with the constant bugs.

Whenever my game freezes which really isn't that often i wait a minute or so for the game to catch up an load whatever it is loading, most times it does, sometimes I have to reset. Also I have my game installed onto the HDD, can PS3 owners do that? (thats a legitimate question) :)

Also I play on the 360, that might change things a little to in terms of my comparison

I paid $120 AUSD for my limited edition copy of Fallout: New Vegas. The PS3 cost around $500-$600 here in Australia (going off the prices listed http://dvdcrave.com.au/SearchResults.aspx?s=console&b=f0275efb-3e6b-4fcb-b5b1-a33310ee1164) The money you fork out is nothing compared to me haha.

I remember when oblivion was first released my console frooze everytime i put oblivion in (until i installed the game onto the HDD). It never caused me to have to buy another console in fact i still have that console and have used it since the 360's launch. Also I am going assume you know attractive games like fallout are to bugs and glitches.
