SomethingAwful "previews" hardcoe Mode

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:06 pm

Never heard of the site.
So I didn't know what to expect.

It's a site that mocks everything, expecting an honest game review from them is like expecting an accurate financial rapport from tiksnass.com

Something I think would Balance it out, or at least in hardcoe mode is to have a cooling system for the wearer when out in the Mojave, and as such, would be a cooling meter for the character to keep from dying in the heat, and it burns through MC/EC but EC requires more cells to use.

Its difficult, but it'd definately knock down the 'God' feel people worry over.

I just hope that we don't have to eat/sleep every in-game day, every two in-game days seems better. Especially considering that an in-game day probably takes less than an hour in real life.

Well it's 24 hours a day, and every in game minute is 1 real life second, so assuming New Vegas uses the same time scale system, each in-game day is 24 real life minutes.

Yeah I agree on the hit and miss, it had a few seconds of funny then just got ridiculous

@Undecaf- That post is possibly the best post on this entire forum yet

The premise wasn't funny, but some of the individual lines were.

Not exactly. The default timescale for Fallout 3 is 30:1 - that's 30 ingame minutes per real-life minute, or in other words, every ingame minute is 2 real-life seconds. So the day lasts 48 minutes.

Well that was a waste of time.

Reads like he just came and copy-pasted from some of the threads here.

Awful is the only word that can describe that failed attempt at humor. Whoever wrote that article tries way too hard to be funny and ends up not being. Its just a [censored] overly sarcastic article that wastes the time of anyone who reads it.

SomethingAwful is really hit or miss with their humor. It all comes from their (paid access) forums, and they seem to have the most success with their Photoshop Phriday pheature feature. Even that isn't always funny. This article was amusing enough to read but there's a lot of funnier things out there.

The funniest part in that whole thing, is the fact I thought it was real, just a little over-blown, until I got to the part "theres no fast travel, no running, and they decreased the walk speed to a lean" or something like that... then i was like... "im so stupid..."

edit: oh and the part about deleting save games, it said something about all your other titles? I was like "Do they mean it deletes ALL your FO:NV save games? Thats.. stupid.. What if I want to play a character for real, and then a hardcoe character? I would have to run from almost everything in the game to survive!" I didn't make the connection "all your other titles" as in, all the games that you own.

It boggles the mind how anyone (even those who didn't know what the site was) could believe it to be a genuine preview, it's mind-boggling really

con grats you have lost the game! XD

anyways i don't think hardcoe is going to be that hard, in fact i don't think its going to be tied into the dificulty slider, it will mprobbly be a clickable option.

Actually, one in-game minute is one about one second in real time. So one day would be 24 minutes, I think. Not sure, but about then, yes. So eating and sleeping and drinking could be fairly well maintained if you had enough caps for food. Anyone know if the experience meter fills faster in hardcoe mode? In Fallout 3, harder modes would grant more experience.
