Soulless, Shallow, Sad To See

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 7:09 am

What happened? Where did it all go wrong? This game is soulless. Stripped of so much. Pains me to see what was once a cherished franchise become so shallow. What happened Bethesda?

Didn't you make another thread the other day saying Skyrim is the best game you ever played?

Funny, a few days back it was an amazing game.

Just because there's a lot of content doesn't mean it's good content. Game is shallow.

No offense, but I think the fact that it took you 300 hours to realize the game is "shallow" says more about you than it does about the game...

When one does not have the will to take in all he sees and ponder all he sees, he will never be content.

No offense taken,I just like to get my moneys worth out of a game(I am part Dutch)and give it the benefit of the doubt before I make a judgement on it.Hell I forced myself to complete a play through in Dragon Age 2 I guess I like self punishment.

for a game that only had 2-3 years of full development, it's pretty huge. needs work in specific departments(factions come to mind), but it is a lot of content

You people are not familiar with logic are you? I don't support his point, but "game is shallow" doesn't have to conflict with "there's lots of content".

Attributes have been reduced to H/M/S which is absurd. There's no distinction with starting characters like there used to be. The dialogue and choice/consequence is completely embarrassing. Nothing in this world matters or changes. The guilds are lifeless and NPC's barely react to your position in the world. The writing is atrocious. Beth really needs to go back to the drawing board if they decide to do VI.

You really don't need to keep making new threads. Just make one and use it for discussion.

What? The other thread was locked and the mod directed conversation to this one.

No problem. What are your thoughts on what's happened to this once cherished franchise?

Agreed.

I still think it's a good game though, in spite of it's shortcomings...

It's difficult for me to hate a game that offers over 100 hours of enjoyment and modding support; even if it is a disappointment next to it's predecessors.

Its not a good TES game.
The OP is right, Skyrim has been stripped of too much to be anything but shallow.

Saying that a game that has 100's of hours of enjoyment to is shallow doesn't make it not fun or not good. Mortal Kombat is shallow, has the most hole tastic story ever and yet is fun. Skryrim may not have the depth that made Morrowind a work of art, and it remains a good game that could have been fantastic, but it is still a good game.

Yeah well the only way I see myself playing Skyrim again is fully modded out. The scary thing is I have mentioned before is the fact. That I like Skyrim more then I did Oblivion, yet I became bored faster with Skyrim.
