Sovngarde and Shor

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 2:32 pm

Bethesda did such an excellent job with the sky in Sovngarde...I cannot understand why they would not allow us see Shor...

Why do they keep avoiding showing us Aedric deities?

...And yes Shor/Lorkhan is a Padomaic Aedra. Akatosh on the other hand is an Anuic Aedra

Pretty sure there would need to be a REAAAAAAAAAAAALLY big occurance for a deity to show his/her face. Like, other gods fighting eachother or something.

They won't likely present such a major deity as being just some dude walking around the Hall of Valor, even in Sovngarde. He's a deity of cosmic proportions. Present him as some entity you can hit and it's gonna just turn him into a "monster", so to speak. A normal occupant of the world.

Because you are Shor. Part of him, anyway.

That is true, he should be as big as Mehrunes Dagon was except invincible and on a big throne that you cannot get near. Also they will have fluffy clouds around him to make him seem more heavenly ^.^

They gave him a small chair at the head of the table...I sat in it...Shor would have to be my character's size to fit that chair

Don't the heroes in the hall say his brightness would be blinding to a mortal and that is why his chair appears empty?

Lorkhan is an elf?
Of course. Lorkhan is an elven god. Shezzar and Shor would look more human.

Dead in the sense that they can not exist as they could before Nirn was created. They're alive, in a way, in Aetherius.

Indeed, Shor is dead. That is why he is found in Sovngarde, and not Mundus.

The aedra are not in Atherius. They are bound to the Aurbis, and live in their God plane(t)s.

Sometimes, I just think that TES has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much lore. I try to understand it all, but the only things taht make sense are The Nine Aedra, The 16 Daedric Princes, and Lorkhan.

But Aetherius encompasses those planes, therefore aedra live in Aetherius. Everything is bound to Aurbis, but, specifically, the aedra are in Aetherius, which is a subsection of Aurbis.

That's what I love about TES, especially the lore conflicts between the different races. It feels so realistic to have such a wide and varied lore.

I know, it's awesome, but I'm just gonna stick with the Imperial Pantheon. The old school one. I fight for the Nine.

The Aurbis is not part if Atherius, otherwise the Thalmor's plan would make no sense. The Atherius is what surrounds the Aurbis, and it's only inhabitants are Magne-Ge, and souls.

I agree and I think the Skyrim setting was very fertile ground to explore the lore...Beth just missed the opportunity

I believe you have it backwards. According to the wiki, Aetherius is a part of Aurbis, not the other way around.
