Sovngarde! Spoilers! Beware do not open if your still playin

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:40 pm

Again of you made it in here and have not completed the main quest if leave due to major spoilers.

Wow guys/gals! Sovngarde is absolutely beautiful. I was not expecting what I saw. The sky resembles the perk menu, I think it breathtaking. I want a dlc that looks like that. Two places that blew my mind were Blackreach and of course Sovngarde. I wish we could go back to Sovngarde, I spent a very long time exploring and taking in the scenery. I know some people are trying to avoid the main quest but really they are missing out. It took me 3 months to do it but that was due to lag an broken quests on the ps3, when the patch released the other day I decided to finish it and I'm glad I did. Soon I'll be buying a gaming computer and I really hope someone makes a mod that lets you live live in Sovngarde. Or makes a story full of fantasy.

Anyway I really just wanted to know what you guys thought of Sovngarde? I think bethesda did a great job with the story of skyrim, can't wait for dlc.

I was also very impressed with the art design of Sovngarde. In fact the idea of going back there is one of the few motivations I have for doing the main quest a second time.I think Bethesda outdid themselves with Skyrim's art design. There is nothing in any of the other games quite as breathtaking as Solitude or the Colleg of Winterhold as seen from a distance.

Actually, I've never played a game as visually sumptuous as Skyrim. I find myself getting dead simply because I'm sightseeing..... and that bear or sabrecat or Forsworn does me in before I have a clue.....

Should make a mod that when you die, you go to Sovngarde to see it again then forces you to reload.

I was hoping to find Ulfgaar the Unending from Solstheim in Bloodmoon whom you help with finding the entrance to Sovngarde.

He must not have impressed Tsun unfortunately...

Ulfgaar the Unending is in the Hall of Valor with the rest of the Heroes. He is there with his 3 friends (Which were dead in Bloodmoon). You can also find Olaf, the king that you burn in Solitude. If you did the Bards Quest before going here, Olaf will remember you.

Huh, I must have missed him. I'll check a bit more closely next time, thanks.

It was too short of a section, for such a great looking area in my opinion. There should have been more npcs, and there should have been many more barriers to the final battle involving multiple side objectives in the area to weaken Alduin so that he is beatable, besides simply dealing with the piddly fog.

Thanks for posting but even pictures can't really give you that feeling you have when going there. I know some people who are not doing the main quest at all and I really think its a shame and they are missing out.

Yeah I wish we could live there in a future patch! I want to drink mead in Shor's Halls and share war-stories with Ysgramor!

The second time I did the MQ, I was searching the whole place for a while, in case Bethesda had placed any rare treasure or easter egg there. No luck though.

The Hall of Valor looks exactly like a 1960's era Southern Baptist church. There's also a Catholic church of the same era which I drive by regularly which looks just like it. Even the interior looks like some caterers got confused and shipped the kegs from a frat party to a very fancy church hall wedding.

I do like the sky, though. And the music makes it.

And that's why I've done the MQ once. So I wouldn't miss out on something a beta tester I know spent DAYS drooling over.... Yes, Sovngarde is worth all the rest of the stuff that I DIDN'T like about the MQ. And Ji.... your screenies are WONDERFUL.... I was too busy playing to take any (happens to me a lot - I think it's the 65 year old grey cells....)

I was bummed as well. Can't get back in the hall either! I'm almost ashamed to say it was a bit moving getting there and seeing it all. I'd been playing for a stretch and was feeling that immersion you get with the game. All that comraderie was pretty nice.

I was also bummed that you don't return to Skulfa-whatever. I had all the Dragonscales stored there. I couldn't
carry them all. Now they're lost. Yeah - they'll be more.....

I think the camaraderie was especially nice (at least for me) since the "end game" is otherwise so lacking in same.

Hircine's Hunting Grounds next! Bloody rivers, a red sky and a crimson sun, savannah, canyons and a large forest! And the sounds of people screaming and wolves howling and bears growling. In my opinion, sounds much more exciting than burping all day in some mead hall.

I didn't like the fact that if you look out the window in the hall you only see a bland, empty space...
