Spears are a must-have for my Argonian character. Cleaning an axe is just not the same, ya know. Not even those long, hard curved swords from Hammerfell can compete.

I still don't get it. You want it for the aesthetic? Most of the examples you gave were for NPCs using spears, not yourself.... Also, I'm not even interested in mounted combat so let's not get started on that.

That's cool, you don't have to get it.

Just, when TES6 comes out with only swords, try not to turn into one of those rocking-chair-sitting old-timers who waxes nostalgic about when you had three kinds of melee weapons.

I hope they don't add a perk tree for spears, I mean, I am already level 50, I would hate to want to reassign my perk points for a new spear skill tree, because its already too late for that

Lets see, spears and flails, those would be awesome additions to make up with the lack of weapon variety, along with crossbows of course, but still, I wish they would add even more than that

I'm guessing spears will be added along with the werebear and the Lycanthropy DLC/update that Vsions hinted at.

Spears + mounted combat = Ride of the effin Rohirrim......how awesome would giant horse battles be!? I was really disappointed in the civil war battles, it was just slaughter.

Hello everybody !

So recently we got confirmations about the release of Crossbows and Mounted Combat.
That got me hyped as hell , but I'm also wondering if there's a plan to add Spears ?

I mean , Beth added quite a lot stuff from the Gamejam , so what about Spears ?

Hopefully levitation too!

IF there will be Spears , should they take a whole new Perk-Tree ? I hope so !

I wouldn't suspect a completely new Perk-Tree, just an addition of perks to the Two-Handed part.
I suspect the same of Crossbows, just added perks into Archery.
then again, It would help people level up more in case they re-decide their character to use one of them.

I would love to see spears in the game, apart from being very culturally appropriate (of course practically every culture had spears) I would love to have another weapon style to face off against. Realistically speaking a spear is a formidable weapon so I think it could be a fun addition.

References in the coding make it extremely likely that there will be crossbows but that doesn't equal confirmation to me. Call me paranoid/scarred/nitpicky or whatever, but until I see video of gameplay with the player wielding a crossbow or Bethesda themselves say so then I'm remaining cautiously optimistic. My soul can't take the raising and then the crushing of my hopes and dreams any longer.

Whatch the Dawnguard trailor on youtube, there is gameplay of a character using crossbow and also having one while mounted on horseback
