Spoiler Alert: Disappointed

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 6:11 am

I just finished the main quests in Fallout New Vegas and when the end titles ended I get really disappointed that you can't continue the game as Broken Steel in Fallout 3, this gave me this feeling 'I've accomplished all this for nothing.'

Hm, well I hope the game will get some DLC's that gives you a chance to continue.

Heh, a game this large should be a never ending game like Fallout 3 Broken Steel, damn, I got only two saves, one from Goodsprings in the beginning and one at Hoover Dam xD

Seriously, there is a big ass window warning you about it. Do people keep skipping it intentionally or what? :sadvaultboy:

Don't beat the game. Even when I beat the game with one of my characters, I still have a save at the end of the second act.

I blame myself for not paying attention, but it's still a bad thing in this game, when you're relieved after the battle at the dam and this epic ending, and then it just sends you back to the main menu, doh what a disappointment though. I guess I will re-play it someday and create more saves, maybe when the new update is relesed.

I don't really see how you'd get that feeling, considering the exhaustive ending narration that shows in detail what the results of your actions and accomplishments were. :(

Obsidian is on record as saying that they won't do this.

Personally, I think this is a good decision. After you've done all the quests, there's really no real reason to continue. I remember how lame freeplay after the end was in Fallout 2, and this would be exactly like that.

Yet another reason to keep a save at the end of act 2...

there is so many variable endings in this game that they couldnt possibly show all of them in gameplay u would be left feeling even more dissapointed

All for nothing? You started as a lowly courier and worked your way up to determining the fate of the entire Mojave wasteland. If you're looking for some larger sense of accomplishment for your character, I don't know what to tell you.

That's like someone being elected president of The United States, but not being happy because he wanted to be ruler of the universe.

But I suppose that's not what your post was really about. In all fairness, the end was rather abrupt. I was looking forward to wearing General Oliver's uniform around Vegas after I filled his face full of .50 cal rounds.

The ending is great, since you can't continue they can put so much more thought at the end slideshow, and all the things you have done would make it nearly impossible to continue, where all the things you have done were in it.

Besides, since you didn't read it,it's your own fault, don't be dissapointed in the game....

From the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1098302-fallout-new-vegas-fan-interview/

Will we be able to keep playing once we beat the game with this one?
From Sean via Facebook

JS: This is something we really wanted to do, but ultimately we realized that supporting post-endgame content would jeopardize the quality of the ending, which we wanted to tell the definitive stories for all of our major factions, locations and characters. Instead, after the credits roll the game will prompt you to reload a save created just before the endgame sequence, allowing players to go back and complete any quests they may have missed. Additionally, we make it very clear when you're about to reach the end of the main plot, so it shouldn't come across as a surprise.

The date there is June 15th, several months before the release of the game

I'm also somewhat certain (though not completely) that in one of the developer diaries it was stated that the game would end or at least one of the interviews.

At this point I'm not certain how people don't know or why they are that shocked that the game ended when all the signs were there.

i would agree i am mad too that there is no way you can continue after the game ends, but unless you can convince people for a dlc like broken steel, there is nothing you can do about it

Fixed.

Think about it.

Continuing FO3 was simple... the original end was "Look! Clean water!" Ok, that's simple to build on.

FO:NV? Just the main endings (ignoring all the minor faction changes) would all bring massive change to the Mojave. Each one separate. You'd need an entire DLC (if not a full expansion) just to have the changes for one of the major endings.

And even if you were crazy enough to do that (four or five DLCs, each one representing one of the major factions winning), they'd sell terribly, because each person would only want the one for their end. The others would be useless to them.

So, no. There won't be a continuation.

I still dont get it, what was wrong with just letting the player character back into the wasteland after the slideshow?, your character does not die, to me it's open ended, also there are a couple of locations that suggest very strongy they will be used in the future, places like the canyon car wreck, once the wreck is removed there is a clear path to the west with a lot of open ground, the gate at the mojave outpost has the message "needs a key"; normally areas innaccesible like that will say "INNACCESIBLE", I don't think I'm stretching when I say these strongly suggest upcoming DLC.

With ALL the threads about this, one would think that people would stop creating new ones.

I'm having a difficult time believing that anybody who comes here "only just discovered" that this game has an terminal end.

well there are so many variables that it would be hard to shape the post ending map, so that the choices you made would be reflected

[example]-"Cass, at the ripe age of 72 died in her sleep"

then you go and kill her afterwards.

(would you rather have an ending where everything is wrapped up and the aftermath of the events of the game are revealed, or an ending where you can run around afterwards, but your choices arent reflected)

It could've been made like in some other games, you're returned in time just before the Point of No Return, but still have items and xp you had in the end. You can continue playing after the ending, but the ending hasn't happened ;)
