*SPOILER* How is realistic facial surgery going to be justif

Dawnguard Spoiler

Spoiler
I'm just wondering about how Beth possibly hope to cover realistic facial surgery. Magic? I just can't see it happening, particularly if it's just some guy down in the Ratway with a rusty razor or something.
On another note, facial change should equate to removing all bounties anywhere, but to counter this, it should also be astronomically expensive. Anyone agree?

I hope it's just a barber that can change hair/facial hair/war paint.

I already tweak my face sometimes with changeracemenu, to me its just an aesthetics thing. Having a legit way to do it even on consoles will be good for the game.

This is simply a case of "OK we can add this easily and many players would be happy to have it. Do it and figure out a lore thing later."

And personally I think surgery would work well with a rusty razor in a sewers if I could back it up with healing magic :P Might sting a bit tho.

PS. Probably not a good idea to have spoilery titles.

Dont mean to nitpick, but there wasn't much point putting things in spoiler tags with regards to your thread title... :D

On topic: I'd imagine magic will be the reason...

I would find it disturbing if you could change any other facial features.

But then again, I believe I read somewhere in the ES wikia that there was a man on another continent that managed to transform himself into a dragon, so I guess shape shifting magic isn't non-cannon...

maybe alteration magic? Anyway its a gamey thing they added because people wanted it, in that context it doen't have to make perfect sense. But i imagine it will just be beard/hair/warpaint

From the actual perspective of the game, you're not changing anything, so I don't think it matters either way. It's just to help players make adjustments after they've seen things in better lighting.

In your opinion. I personally like the idea on changing the look of your face up. So what if it's a guy in a dank underground alleyway with a rusty knife? Who cares, don't use it if you don't like it. It's no different then the, Showracemenu console command for PC.

I love the idea of it removing all bounties... I think you should also be able to change your name. Witness Protection and all that

No but seriously the Bounty Removal is GENIOUS.

In medevil times they did have surgens that could reconstruct faces to an extent, nothing like the plastic surgery we have now days tho. I say it will be magic, and im fine with that.

And for those of you who only want it to be a barber, then dont reconstruct your face, use it as a barber  We all have been roleplaying things for so long, its no different then not using fast travel. Its a feature for those that want to use it, but your not forced to use it.

The way it's worded in the article it sounds like it's like a magical workstation (Life a crafting table) that does it, so it would be done by magic; and unless they specific account for it, you will be able to change even your face. Hopefully they make a new menu just for aesthetics and not structure.

Well of course, everything on here is opinion I'm not going to write "in my opinion" at the end of everything I write

But it is silly to be able to change your race and/or gender at will. As for the showracemenu I only use it for hair and warpaint because those things could naturally and realistically be changed

in my opinion of course ...... no sarcasm intended

Guys c'mon...when the dlc comes out and your trying this stuff out you won't even think about why its stupid so much as the potential benefits so why complain about it? If you hate it that much just murder the guy...

Nah it's been confirmed that a Guy in the Ratway changes your face.

"Magic based" plastic surgery.

I find ... from a realism standpoint ... the idea rather ridiculous in a Skyrim trype of world but, that's just my opinion.

On the other hand, just because I wouldn't use it ... if others want to and it makes sense to them, no skin off my butt.

You can only change your face with the shady guy in the Ratway. Not gender or race.

Well, in some ways its unrealistic no matter what. I mean, you could walk in clean shaven but walk out with a full beard.
