Altmer are okay. I only use them because of their + 50 magicka points.

I usually play Altmer as the first character in TES games, even though they're not my favorite race. They're cool, a bit snotty, but cool.

The Dominion, on the other hand. . .

I used to hate Altmer back when I first played Oblivion and then one day I thought what the hell and made my first one. I'm not entirely sure why, but they became my favorite race to play ever after (being great at magic has at least something to do with it, since I love playing mages). I've made a few characters in Skyrim, but none have held my attention like my Altmer mage who I play almost constantly. I do REALLY miss how they were tall in first-person view in Oblivion. I LOVED towering over everyone in that game. Made me and my Altmer feel nice and superior. ;)

The Altmer have always been my favorite race, their lore is interesting and I an glad in Skyrim we are getting a good look on a blemish to Altmer society the Thalmor.

You're completely right.
Game ruined.

OT: I love my altmer arch-mage. He's old, has a look of sorrow about him and has made it his life's mission to change the nords ideas about magic.
It is an irritating bug tho and it should be fixed.

I didn't even notice it until you spoke up about it.

There are more important things that need a good fixin' right now.

The Altmer have always been my favorite race in the Elder Scrolls games. I don't really know why.

Agreed, the respawn enemy and plant respawns are far more important. So is the Nirnroot glow stacking, and the ash piles still do not clean up properly all the time. Then there is the swords and shields not cleaning up ever.

Yes I know there are other dreadful bugs, but this here is an annoyance for sure especially since I play so many Altmer, and they are my favorite race.:)

The first time I seen Nalcarya of Whitehaven or whoever the fine alchemist was in Balmora her name was something like that anyways, the first time I seen her I had no cloths on and she said to me clearly your an idiot, and its how she said it that line has stayed with me.:)

i'm planning a mod adds new ruins and dungeons, and i might have a remote site with a group of altmer studying the ruins, what do you guys think about that?
it will add 3 new Altmer followers and marriage candidates

I just wish the First Person Height was added. I want to look taller in First Person, not the same as every other race.

That sounds awesome! I always lament the fact that there are no male Altmer to marry and no Altmer followers at all! Too bad I'm not playing on the computer though...but if I was this would be one mod I would definitely look into.

On another note, I really love the default Altmer voices in Skyrim, especially the male voice. I think they just nailed it.

Oh and I really like their lore too. At first I didn't know anything about it, but the more I read the more interested I was. Plus I think that Alinor/Summerset Isle sounds like the most beautiful country from everything I've read about it (too bad Crystal-Like-Law is gone though).

Given they're treatment of their own (albeit dark skinned) brethren they can all go to hell.

The Altmer women are feeding the Sons and Daughters of Skyrim, and have taken to nonviolent support of the people most likely to destroy the Dominion.

I miss the elemental weaknesses. Playing an Altmer in Oblivion, you had the only race with a weakness, something you had to compensate for, made things more interesting. If Skyrim had minor weaknesses for every race, the difference in races would be so much more pronounced, your choice would have more meaning and impact. Even if very slight, e.g. Argonians 10% weakness to frost, Altmer 10% weakness to magic or whatever.
Doesn't stop me playing them in Skyrim, just would have been nice. (Oh, and don't forget the regeneration power, could save your character's life, getting an extra fireball or more healing in.)

As far as their race goes they're pretty interesting. The Thalmor are one-note as far as factions go, and I would've preferred the option to join them to get a better grasp on their side of the story. But alas, the focal point of a game like this is being the super badass Neo/Aragorn/Luke Skywalker clone that defeats the derp badguys once and foreverz.

Was speaking generally. The main quest as well as just about every faction questline pigeon holes you into being the protagonist.

Still holding out for Alduin to give you the offer as Dragonborn to 'omnomnomnom' the world with him. If he asked nicely I might well consider helping! Would certainly make for an intresting tale

I tend to mostly play Nords or Altmer. Nords for pure melee, Altmer for any kind of magic-user of hybrid. I've probably played more Altmer than anything else.
