Good information!
I ordered it through Amazon though, so I'll have to wait and install it once I get the disk :(

So the download is only 5.5 gigs?
The actual install is always larger than the download though (due to unpacking the installation files or whatever), so maybe that's where they get the "8gigs" in the system requirements.

Compression has actually come a long way in the last couple of years. 5.5 sounds about right, if the game was packaged smartly.

Dang, no sign of codes from D2D, hopefully that will change soon. I hope I don't have to wait right up to the tenth. :/

If D2D is like Amazon, the codes will be sent within 2 days of your order being shipped.

And a question about the Steam Preload, can you only download the game and not install it yet? Or can do you do both, but just can't launch it until release day?

Download and install, but the entire thing is encrypted.

It's only decrypted on release, and takes about 15 minutes. AKA the longest 15 minutes of your life.

Legally decrypted on the 10th.

You know someone will have it all hacked/decrypted by tomorrow :whisper:

Seeing as how the PC version works through steam however... no wait... they'll probably find a way around that too.

Bad guys will always find a way, it's the good guys security measures make miserable :(
