Steam News: Dead Money is now available.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:30 pm

It must be well under a gig. I doubt a DLC would be much more than a few hundred MB.

200-400 MB is how it was with FO3. I don't expect it differently.

Guys there are usually a bucket load of problems when DLC's are fired up so I suggest you save yourselves the wait and go to bed, as I'm doing now. Good night everyone.

I wonder how many not so careful people bought the full game, not realizing that the link for the dlc, actually links to the full game, which has no mention of the dlc .

*mutters about steam* I am not such an idiot, I just had a moment of sticker shock when I saw a $40 price tag I realized something was off. Still strikes me as a very shady practice(Advertising a 10 dollar product and swapping it out with the 40 dollar full game, minus the dlc) .

I somehow doubt that was intentional.

Perhaps, perhaps not. At the very least one could admit to a certain level of mismanagement.

edit: Also, people making that mistake would explain why some folks are downloading multiple gigs of files. I have some doubts that they will get their cash back from steam. No doubt some would argue, they get the 'unique items' associated with a steam purchase. *shrugs*

Three possibilities I can see.

1) Steam made a mistake and put it up to soon. (Bad steam bad!)
2) Steam put it up and realized it had horrific bugs and they couldn't sell the product as is (Think the pitt release for fo3)
3) Steam is releasing it by time zone. (Perhaps just to stagger the hit their servers will take.)

That doesn't make much sense, because every legal copy of the game has to register with Steam, and Steam gives them adequate warning. Not only would it say "You already own this game", but the page would be on New Vegas, the price tag would clearly say 50 dollars, etc.

I don't have any sympathy for anybody who somehow buys a second copy of the game that way. I mean really, it is very obvious that you aren't buying Dead Money in this situation.

In other news, there is now zero trace of Dead Money anywhere on Steam.

Can't say I'm pleased by this.

Sorry that sounded a bit rude, I was just posting ASAP so no one gets the wrong info and starts raging. No offense intended.

Well, I don't know what to tell you, but I search "dead money" on steam and get nothing. :P

My NVSE is also getting screwed over at the moment despite supposedly being updated to the latest patch. Something wacky's going on with Steam.

EDIT: I found it on "Coming Soon", but try clicking on that; you get redirected to the normal FONV page with no mention of Dead Money there. Searches don't turn anything up either.

In sweden here. Steam is currently downloading 7gigs of FONV. I assume this is something to do with dead money and no I did not purchase the game again only the DLC.

Edit: okay, so it stopped downloading after 345MB and I can now check deadmoney.esm in FOMM ^^

So is anyone else finding that anything referencing Dead Money (the coming soon, the "now available" announcement" simply redirects to FONV's page?

What the heck is going on?

Its pretty clear that the PC platform is an afterthought. Not only is there no advertising for this release, you cant even pre-purchase or find the [censored] thing properly listed!

So what's the problemo here? should I get an xbox? i bought a new lap top for 500.00 Canadian, and I need to play the game on the low quality. I thought computers were superior! Is the patch out yet?

Yea, that's a possibility actually, it will probably run better on an xbox than a cheap laptop. You'd get the mods with the laptop, which is a huge plus, but the game probably isn't going to work very well.

It's available in Europe (They are ahead of us in more than time  )

It's now after Midnight (CST) and it says Dead Money is available but the link goes to FONV. ARRGGGH!
I would like to start the download before I go to bed.

It's available in Europe you say? for PC? then how is it not available here? sure have been waiting a while for this. i'm 300 hours into it. and have not played it for a couple months now. I just found a new mission while walking aorund. it was the bounty mission, I had all three heads on me, thought I would take a ride on the subway from vages and ran into a group of NCR that i never really stopped to talk to.

Did any of you play fallout 2?

For Bethesda, having the PC be an afterthought is surprising. Can't say I'm pleased that they haven't even explained why it's pulled from Steam.

Does anyone know what time zone we're waiting for?

Or better yet, why they just don't do worldwide unlocks at 0000 zulu like makes sense?
