Steam News: Dead Money is now available.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:27 pm

Does anyone know what time zone we're waiting for?

Or better yet, why they just don't do worldwide unlocks at 0000 zulu like makes sense?

Probably because FO:NV was a worldwide sales record seller. There's enough demand for 0-hour download it would slam their network.

FYI, Everyone I know had to work, it's entirely possible Steam/Valve doesn't observe presidents' day. Here's hoping!

That's what pre-loading is for.

Well, its coming up on 1 AM and nothing. Looks like I'm not playing this tonight.

I know, I'm Canadian... And I never even heard about Family Day until today! I worked every single one of them so far.

It's only observed in some provinces, Alberta for sure, but not British Columbia for example

Just noticed it was available in the CST timezone. Just bought it and have the same issues as others noted, a 7GB download.

Love how people are [censored]ing that a DLC doesn't release right at midnight, and expecting a totally seamless launch at that. If the seller of the DLC [censored]s up, its not Bethesda's fault. Stop saying stupid [censored] about how the PC is an afterthought and bla bla bla. If that was true, they would be pulling a dike move like Need For Speed and not releasing any DLC at all.

There is an update to FO:NV proper AS WELL AS the DLC it seems.

I got a 7 gig patch download that rapidly turned into "updating Fallout: New Vegas" and "Downloading Fallout: New Vegas Dead Money (DLC)" progress bars both appearing.

Saw a post on the Nexus somewhere (chat, maybe?) that said it looks like a 7gb dl but stops at like 324 MB and you then have the .esp.

Mine didn't split.

My download suspended at about 441 MB. I clicked the pause button, and then it said the download was done. Bug is the same as what some other poster described.

Yup, I can confirm this; it think's it's re-DLing the entire game but stops at 324 MB, and then you get the .esp.

Woot! :)

Well, I started up steam saw it advertised and went to it, not sure if I will get it now or check out bestbuy and get a hard copy since I have the cash on hand not sure about on the card.

Only beef I have is I wish steam would damn fix that constant imputting your age in every time. Wtf if you set up your age in your profile it should remember it.

Correction apparently its not on hard copy cause no local store even has it listed for the consoles.

Here's my thought process:

1) Buy Dead Money
2) Load up the game; get the infamous menu bug and I'm thinking... huh...
3) Open up LOST, see that the Dead Money .esm is present, activate it.
4) Tried starting New Vegas again and it does the 7gb dl and I'm thinking to myself.. "You have to got be kidding.."
5) Then I realize, "Oh snap! My data folder! MUST PRESERVE!"
6) Turns out it's 11 gb's and I'm just like... "Please don't delete that.."
7) See this post:
Saw a post on the Nexus somewhere (chat, maybe?) that said it looks like a 7gb dl but stops at like 324 MB and you then have the .esp.

8) Myself: "Oh well" and cancels the copy.

Download was done for me at 347.0 MB on the dot. Maybe I'll copy my data folder anyways one day.

Still have no DLC's available... Moreover, i have no patch, no achievements from Dead Money at list, and my link to game leads to app/22490 which have redirect to app/22380. I have no notification that i already have this game. Link http://store.steampowered.com/app/72730/ which looks like must lead to DLC page have redirect to app/22380. WTF? Again [censored] territorial restrictions?

Opened steam today, bought it, and it downloaded in 2-5 minutes, so whatever problems you had earlier has been fixed it seems.

This occured at 11:40 22 February 2011

Steam works in mysterious ways, grasshopper

The announcement that it was available linked back to the Main Game file.
After about an hour (give or take) the "BUY" links became available
There was never an indication of file size for me and the download completed even before the progress bar started (about 5 min)
After firing up the game Steam insisted on updating FalloutNV,exe—even though I had the latest (352) version.
Despite claiming to download it, the exe file remained the same,

Everything seems to work.

Could someone explain to me how to get the DLC. Do I have to buy it online from steam via credit card. Are there points cards at Best Buy, Wallmart, etc.? I can't figure out how to get it, id perfer to buy it w/o buying it online.

PS: Its a really stupid move to REQUIRE PC users to buy things with Steam.

No, it's not.
This DLC is a mere 350MB of data. It's unrealistic to pretend they'll release it on a disk.
Buying from Steam is easy: just click to "Add to cart" and follow the instuctions. You will be required to give your credit card number.
