Ok, question for you guys. I just finished killing parthurnax and I returned to esbern and delphine at the Sky Haven Temple. I'm not sure where to go from this point. I elected not to help find any new blade members and bring them back delphine. Plus, that's not the main quest, just a misc quest. I'm really stumped here and not sure how to continue the main quest again. In my quests I only have two things i'm able to do. I think "no stone undone" and a bunch of misc quests.

how did you kill parthunax after alduin? He disappears permanently after alduin is defeated and the quest to kill him vanishes from my list

something tells me you didnt finish the MQ and maybe it glitched to where the next quest isnt in your journal.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section, my bad. But anyway, after I killed Alduin, Parthurnax is still at the Throat Of The World. So Delphine and Esbern won't help unless I killed Parthurnax, so I did. I don't think I finished the main quest either, it's just odd how nothing is in my journal except old quests I haven't completed. I really hope it isn't a glitch, that would piss me off lol. Also, I'm only 108 hours into the game. There is no way the main quest is completed. Most of those hours were side quests too.

the end of alduin is the end of the main quest...disappointingly anti-climatic huh?

did you kill parthunax before he announced you to the other dragons and gave that speech to you? i didnt know you could kill him then, i just listened and watched him fly off for good then odaviing got a word in and flew off as well

Damn really? Wow, the main quest was kinda short then. I killed Parthurnax after he announced me to the other dragons. I did see him fly away but then I went back to Sky Haven Temple and thats when Delphine said unless you kill parthurnax, we don't help you anymore and you wouldn't be on our side. So then the quest "parthurnax" showed up in my journal and I went back to the throat of the world and he was sitting next to where you absorb your dragon shouts. After I killed him I went back to delphine and she was happy I did that but nothing happened. I was expecting another quest to start but no.

So now, I don't know what the hell to do in the game lol. I already have done the thieves guild and the companions but thats it. Can anyone recommend me any other cool side quests so I can actually do something in the game?

The civil war?
Dark Brotherhood, College of Winterhold?
Going for all Daedric quests?
Become thane in all the holds?
Exploring?
There are plenty of things, believe me...

Well, there's the Dark Brotherhood, and the College of Winterhold. Both joinable factions with their own questlines, and with the former you can choose to side with them or against them (siding with them will get you a longer questline to play out, if you don't mind being a cold-blooded assassin in order to do it.)

You can spend some time becoming the Thane of all nine holds, if you haven't already.

You can decide to take a side in the civil war, and the ceasefire you got at the peace council will end and both sides will resume hostilities.

There are also side quests related to obtaining all the available Dragon Priest masks in the game.

Wow ok, thanks. I forgot to say I am already an arch mage at the college of winterhold. All the other quests you mentioned I have not done. Where do I even begin with all those? I would like to start the deadric quests and the dark brotherhood. And what's this civil war you talk about. Is this the same as when windhelm attacked whiterun or not?

No after the MQ is done you can go back to the throat of the world and Parthanax will be there

If you have chosen to join either the Stormcloaks or the Imperials and been in a battle for Whiterun, then you have started the civil war questline, yes. It ends when one of the sides control all nine holds.

lol sorry, I really liked him but I thought to continue the main quest I would have needed to. I don't think I have an old save to go back before that.

Gotcha, ok. I joined the Imperials. Hmm, not sure if we have control over all nine holds yet.

You could aslo try and get all the dragon priest masks

I'm sure you would recall if you had gotten that far, as you would have been present for the engagements that led to the taking of each hold for your side. The last one on the list should have been particularly memorable. I'm just sayin'.

As noted previously, if you successfully defended Whiterun from the Stormcloaks you have already started the CW on the side of the Empire, and you should have something in your journal, a quest called "Reunification of Skyrim" or something similar. In the event you are on the Stormcloak side it will be more like "Liberation of Skyrim." Usually the next step after the end of any particular CW engagement is to report back to your CO, that would be Tullius in Solitude (Imperials) or Ulfric in Windhelm (Stormcloaks). Whichever one you are serving under will tell you what to do and where to go next to advance the questline.

If you killed Alduin then you've beaten the main quest. Why would you want to kill Paarthunax?

You should never kill Dragon Yoda! Kill Delphine instead, no one gives Dovahkiin an ultimatum!

parthurnax was the best he gave you all those words and you ended up killing him

did you guys stay and let him finish his speech and fly off? maybe if you didnt, thats why he's still there for you and not for me? I even checked a week later and still no parthunax or any dragon up on the throat of the world

In my game he is on top of the mountain still. I done with the main quest.

I've always stayed and listened to the whole speech, all the other dragons chiming in, etc. After Paarthurnax flies off, Odahviing lands and talks to you, letting you know that if you call on him in the future he will come to your aid if he can.

After that, my characters return to the TotW on a regular basis - Paarthurnax has always returned by then and is hanging out as usual, while Odahviing is flying recon around the top of the mountain.
