Stuff you've never seen...

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 8:16 am

200+ hours in. Level 55 Battlemage. All thu'ums learned. Full suite of Legendary Daedric armor and weapons with maximum enchantment buffs. Mjoll as a wife/companion with similar weaponry, decked out in enchanted Dragonbone. Thane of every hold, all houses owned. Dark Brotherhood Listener, Champion of every Daedra, Arch-Mage of Winterhold, Head of the Thieves' Guild, Harbinger of the Companions. Bard, werewolf, Nightingale, cool with the Blades, Psijic Order and the Forsworn, and lest we forget, the Dovakhiin. I feel like I've criss-crossed every inch of Skyrim, and I'm pretty sure I've discovered every location, since I haven't had a black icon on my HUD in at least a few weeks.

And yet...

1) I've never once run into Mai'q the Liar.
2) Somehow, I completely missed ever learning the Telekinesis spell.
3) I have a dagger called Kahvozein's Fang hanging over the dresser at my primary house in Whiterun, and the only reason it's there is because that was the only way I could remove it from my inventory...Since it's a quest item endemic to a quest I've never received.
4) I've never received "Blood on the Ice," despite going to look for it.
5) Somewhere out there is one...more...Barenziah stone.
6) I keep hearing about a bunch of hunters somewhere who are hot-tubbing it in a natural spring...But I've never seen 'em.

What have YOU missed out on, despite going over every inch of the joint with a fine-toothed comb?

I have seen the hot tubbing hunters once... and I have no where near that much stuff done, my question is though how were you able to get all the houses without completing blood on the ice. You will not be able to buy the Windhelm house without this quest?

Aha! Then I guess I was mistaken. I was not aware that there was a house in Windhelm to purchase.

Looks like I still have some work to do. :)

Just over 120 hours, I finally made it to solitude. I've found a wooden mask and 1 priest mask without knowing what on earth they mean. Haven't been to Falkreath; haven't seen a headless horseman.

Man I see Mai'q all over the place. No idea why but he shows up all the time. I've started wondering how he gets around so fast. He always has something pretty funny to say but will only say about 3 things before he tells you he's tired and is done talking for now.

Have seen it once, but only saw it breifly, and 200+ hours later, haven't seen again- headless horseman

Ive chased that guy from Solitude all the way to Hamvir's Rest. Took all night, as he stuck to the roads mainly, and took the scenic route. Was hoping something besides him simply disappearing would happen.
I believe he makes this journy every night.

1. I have not even started the Main Quests. I don't even know what Skyrim is about.

2. The Character i playing with currently. Has encountered Mai'q the Liar a couple of time already. Mostly, if i am correct. It's on top of Ember Shard Mine. In an area where you get random encounters. But one question? Does he run fast as he did on Oblivion? I've never actually seen him run.

3. Dude. I have not encountered a Dragon *battle* lol. The only one i saw was the one in the beginning that destroys Helgen.

To start seeing dragons, you have to start the main quest. Mainly the missions involving Whiterun. Then you can ignore the main quest all together and still have dragons appear randomly.

Nope, you are able to get in inside of a certain castle.

It's inside of a bucket.

I was able to get mine at like level 2 or something.

But you will have to level up your mp before you are able to even use it.

5) Somewhere out there is one...more...Barenziah stone.

I know the feeling: I listed them all after I'd found about twelve. I was sure I had them all, but I was one short. Had to start revisiting sites to check. Eventually found I'd missed a Jarl one.

I've seen the sacrificial cow and farmer, but not the sacrifice. I have seen the giant v dragon battle, which was as apic as you can imagine (stalemate - the dragon saw me and broke off the attack). Checking from the offical guide, I've not sen:

Imperial impersonators (bandits in Imperial uniforms)
Rejected College student
Thalmor v Stormcloaks (seen Imperials v Stormcloaks though)
Hunter looking for a vampire cure
Dead woman's pendant
Dwemer junk peddlars

Those seem to be about the only ones I've missed out of about 95 on the list.

However, I've also had one encounter which I don't recognise from the list: immediately after clearing out a bandit camp some bloke runs up to me and says: "look after this stuff, I'll be back to collect it later. Don't lose it or I'll kill you." Then he legs it. Trouble is, I can't work out what he gave me!

- I've seen the two "hot-tub hunters" on several occasions, but they are never in the pool, just wandering aimlessly around it. I always assumed they were stuck on the terrain.

- I saw the Headless Horseman once, near Karthwasten, but never again.

- I just got the last two Stones of Barenziah, and tomorrow will seek the crown. I had to revisit a cave up north, having somehow missed a side chamber, and the Jarl's room in Riften. Riften! Also, I found stone #22 in
Spoiler
the Whiterun Catacombs
, which somehow I'd missed despite having spent more time in
Spoiler
Whiterun
than (possibly) all other cities combined.

- Not sure how many dragon priest masks I have. I think I still have all that I've collected. Most are in Markarth, along with that dagger which I put in a case. My Alteration is whatever the textbooks have leveled it to. I just can't be a caster.

- I never found Telekinesis, either. I was wondering how people said they could throw buckets at a dragon...

- I've met the farmer leading a cow to a giant camp, but have never followed him.

- I've met many a merc on their way to a spot of trouble. I take on their task, only I've never been told what or where it is!

- I meet thieves on the road, most of whom are guild members and they remember me. But occasionally it's a scab. I usually tell them I have no money, and they tell me off, then run away. Yesterday I chased one all the way to the farm NE of Riften. He just stood there, asking, "does this one need something?"

- I meet Ma'iq everywhere. I wonder how he gets around. A round what? Ma'iq does not know.

Haven't seen inside the Companion's hall, the DB sanctuary, inside Fort Dour, inside of Mzulft, Paarthunax, Telekinesis.
Things I have seen : Sinding alive and well wandering around by Riverwood in broad daylight, a two headed mammoth, Iona refusing to give 'Lover's Comfort' when I asked her to move into my home, Honeyside, but being a lot more 'understanding' after I asked her if we could move into her home, Honeyside.

Not quite on topic, but with my +300 hours there are a few rare things I did encounter, so maybe some of you can add these to your "haven't done list".

I killed two guys at once in a finishing move!
I jumped in the air and thrust my sword into a guys face in a finishing move.
I fought two dragons at once.
Talked to Maiq at least half a dozen times. He says 3 things each time and then he says he is tired of talking, go bother someone else. He rarely repeats anything! I have to wonder how many comments he has.
Made Azura's star a black one! It's SOOO much more useful that way.
I found out if you are thane of whiterun you can punch guards in the face for saying rude things and get away with it!
I'm role playing an Orc who doesn't take any crap from anyone, yet he has honor. That one guy from Falkreath who says "steal anything from my shop and you'll regret it" said it and I punched the crap out him. I think the guards came after me so I left town. A few months later I came back and the guy said "Look I don't want to get in a fight again" and I thought that was pretty cool the game remembered I fought with him.

What I haven't done yet:
Play as a pure mage
Use two handed, illusion much yet.
Finish the empire quest.
Pickpocket anything.
Spend any perks on lockpicking.
Buy the markarth or windhelm house. I've bought riften, solitude and whiterun many times.
Become a vampire.
Only did 2 or 3 deadra quests so far, not sure how many others there are.
Reach 100 skill in anything other than enchanting and smithing.
Reach level 60 yet with any of my characters.
WHat is this speak of hot tubbers?

Thane of Whiterun. 40 bounty, presumably from 're-educating' Thalmor. "I haven't got time for this......". Neither did the guard. Next guard took the bounty on the spot.

Thane of Solitude. Bounty 40, from freeing Thalmor of the prison that is Nirn. Red dots on compass (I have low opacity, thought they were after a dragon at first), swords out, attack me without any conversation. Surrender, something about being a wise woman and no one will tolerate my crimes against the whole of Skyrim. Bounty taken at the jail.

Man I see Mai'q all over the place.
Me too. I see him standing by the side of the road, wave, and continue on my merry way. A few hundred feet down the road I see him standing by the side of the road again. I travel over a mountain pass and there he is again, standing on the peak of a mountain. It's kind of creepy, actually. I feel like he's stalking me. One of the things I plan to change when the CK comes out is make M'aiq (get it?...make M'aiq?) not show up so damn often.

On a different note, I have not seen the hot-tubbing hunters either. I even traveled there just so I could see this sight. I hit Wait over and over, one hour at a time. I cycled through at least two days before I finally gave up and left. I'll try again later...

- Imperial side
- Most of the Main Quest
- Gone to jail (They'll never take me!)
