Goodsprings- Remember the Prospector Saloon? And the General Store? Well they are all real including the elementary school. Here is the "Pioneer Saloon" 's website info page which if you keep reading talks about the General Store next to it.

I just wanted to see what Goodsprings looked like IRL and what shocked at what I found. I then looked up other places like Primm, and Boulder City etc.

Part of the charm of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas is that there are a lot of either real-world locations replicated in-game, or nods to real world locations (like Vicki and Vance or the Bison Hotel).

Which made visiting downtown DC in FO:3 a very surreal experience at times (I grew up close enough to DC to take a lot of field trips there and visit there for other reasons).

Some of the area in this game reminds me of the area around Borrego springs. If you ever want to feel like you're in Fallout game, go there in the summer. It's practically a deserted town in the summer and the terrain around it is really, really weird. When we drove through it, I played Fallout music and creeped everyone out. The hotel we stayed at was this old dive of a 50s motel, complete with palm tree in the parking lot and roaches in the bathroom. Plan on moving on toward San Diego though, because there's nothing to do in Borrego.

McCarran International has an airplane (advertising the old Hacienda) hanging from the ceiling...and there's an airplane in the game there too.

Well seeing as I currently reside in vegas and have for a year now let me put all of your curiosities to rest,with a list of all the places in that game that are real.
1.Nellis air force base.
2.Lake Mead.
3.Boulder City.
4.Hoover Dam.(God I hope you knew this.)
5.McCarran International Airport.

Thanks for those links. I just assumed the developers made Goodsprings up, but seeing the actual real life counterparts was cool! The name Bison Steve made me wonder if it was a silly take on Buffalo Bill, but again, quite cool to see the real deal, roller coaster and all. Even the sign is a dead ringer for the real one. Someone beat me to the punch, but that was why I always get a kick out of FO3-- I grew up and live in the DC suburban area, and finding the landmarks that I know in game just gives you a satisfying feeling. I actually could get around pretty well in FO3 without the map just because they did a good job of recreating the area.

You guys have obviously never been to Vegas. A lot of the locations in the game exist IRL. In fact, I have been to plenty of them myself, which makes it kind of neat when I can go there in-game and light people on fire. :flamethrower:

I actually laughed out loud upon seeing the Death Car....called my wife in from the other room to see it. I was in Northern Nevada a month ago and actually went to the Death Car exhibit at a small casino...it was exactly as shown in game....right down to showing clothing worn at the time of the death. Twas a total waste of time in real life but priceless in game .

And thanks for that. I actually learned something other then the location of a snowglobe today :laugh:
