I surrender Bethesda...

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 5:59 pm

I give up, throwing in the towel... all that good schtuff! Why? Because over a course of 8 total hours of TRYING to fix my Skyrim nothing will work. I have tried everything from re-caching, formatting my HDD entirely, etc. etc. etc.

There is literally nothing us console players can do to fix the texture issue this time. NOTHING trust me I have tried everything!

So I was just poking around in the Issues Forums (cause that's how I do), and what do I keep seeing more and MORE of day by day? Texture Issue Topics and they are finally starting to take over the Issues Forums. If you could just do us all a huge favor and pull your head outta your ass Bethesda, maybe we can talk about a compromise?

Anyway another reason I bring up the IF (Issues Forums) is in someones topic a poster (which I trust this mans word, I see him here alot) said that the main reason due to textures failing and the game freezing/slowing down framerate is because 1.4 was 10MB.. too big to fit into the system cache so it attaches itself to the actual game data? YEAH THAT WAS A SMART MOVE! -.O

Now I know the sole reason my game looks like N64 gfx... because your TU was too big for the consoles to handle. I KNOW it's not my System, HDD, OR TV or anything along the lines. It's YOUR GAME to blame now!

My suggestion? Making seperate TU's for consoles? THAT... or start letting Modders fix this game because you apparently can't do it correctly! ^.^

What texture issue?

IDK.. the one that the 10MB 1.4 Patch created for console players? Must not be happening to you yet.. go visit the Issues Forums.. I'm not alone here.

How bad is this texture issue and when should I expect it on the PS3?

I'm still waiting on the 20MB + auto-lag framerate that is supposed to happen.

I don't visit the issues sub-forum very often, that place is a soulless void of pure troll feces that entirely drowns out any legitimate complaints because people don't understand how to press that capslock key more than once... or make a statement without hyperbole or expletives... or understand that not everyone has the same problem as they do.

Was this 10MB patch the reason my game is much "laggier" now, and the reason almost every dragon looks like it's straight out of a GameCube title?

At least on X360 it did. Apparently from what I've been told the 10MB patch does NOT go into your System Cache but INSTEAD attaches itself to the files of SKYRIM itself. THUS why the patch never officially "deletes" itself from your HDD or cache when you do it yourself.

@whomevermadethesmartass "google it" comment - Don't you think I've tried that? Not like i've already made 3 topics before this one! It's just apparently with 1.4 Bethesda thinks they fixed the entire game for everyone because the quests are fixed. BS!

Ever since they released the patch, not one peep. And now the Issues Forums (at least for X360) are seeing a rise in Texture Topics. Hopefully ONE DAY Bethesda acknowledges the issue instead of being headstrong.

And that is probably the thing that annoys me the most about these forums. Last time I'm going to say this before I just totally give up and never look at these forums again... NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD A £600 OR ANY OTHER PRICE RANGE IN ANY OTHER CURRENCY COMPUTER! The game was ported over FROM the CONSOLE therefore it SHOULD work on the CONSOLE!! Why do you damn PC elitests have to come in and post your crap on every topic on this forum? :swear:

And with that my rage rant is over...

Yes, because ALL Bethesda's been doing is trying to fix PS3. And "optimize" the PC performance. Where the hell are the specific tweaks for XBOX?!

Now that BOTH are out of the way, fix the 360's problems now...

EDIT: @xcdm - I completely agree. Not all of us can afford a beefed up PC. AND SOME OF US have been playing Bethesda's games on console since TES4 and have NEVER HAD A PROBLEM with Textures in those games?

My game gets very laggy now after patch 1.4 (save is only 8 mb) and 3 quests are broken so far and Im only a level 51. The textures sometimes look far worse than Gamecube graphics. That's not hyperbole. An entire building in Solitude looked like a purple and blue block of ice.

Right? I just noticed that... from far away there draw distance takes a LONG time to catch up. Pretty much the Dragon has to land in front of me for his textures to come back. Otherwise he looks like a paper mache bat...

I am JUST like you bro, my textures where high res looking absolutely gorgeous. Got 1.4... EVERYTHING turns to crap..

Well, seeing as I DID replace my X360 Elite with a 250GB Slim in January. Hell, the game was looking at the best optimal resolution AFTER I started playing Skyrim on the Slim console. Don't even try that one bud...

Well I guess its a mystery then. I play on a 3 year old box with a 60gig hd. I've read so many complaints coming from people who have 3 hours in the game and praises from people that are 400 hours in I honestly cant figure it out myself.

I can't either... but i'm quickly starting to realize that this is ONLY HAPPENING TO X360. Not any complaints from any PS3 players at all since 1.4.

And PC people can fix their own textures, so that just rules them out.

It's the fact that the 10MB patch decided it wanted to go into Skyrim's FILES instead of the SYSTEM CACHE (because it was too big to fit, that's what she said..)

EDIT: @devro - WELL that would probably be why you haven't experienced it yet... lucky you. I SHOULD'VE done the same thing.. but a part of me wanted my Weapon Racks back. What a great decision right? :D

I started a new game as many said you need to start a new game for the effects to take place. I don't know, graphics seem slightly worse. Brighter, but a bit more Oblivion like instead of Skyrim 1.3 like. Graphics did get a bit worse with this 1.4 patch

Well you could you could build your own for $400... (And stop using that dumb weirdo E and use a $ symbol like a cultured American!)

In any case, I do agree that if you don't wish to build your own, then not everyone can have a new gaming rig.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pound_sterling Read it. Thoroughly.

And for a DECENT gaming PC, yes, it is £600+

Oh yeah, last thing. That "cultured American" was a hell of a laugh. Thanks for that. :thanks:

That "dumb weird E" is a pound sign, a pound being the British form of currency.

So either 1.) you're uneducated on what a "pound" is, and therefore you shouldn't criticize people for using the "dumb weirdo E" when you don't know what it is or 2.) you're taking an unnecessary shot at someone for not being American, which is an inappropriate behavior for the conversation at hand.

On topic: svcks to hear about this issue, but I haven't seen any problems yet. The one texture bug that I did get cleared up as soon as I loaded into a new area. I haven't noticed any problems with dragons. I, too, am playing on the X-Box 360.
