Taking your favorite ideas.

ah, that makes more sense, i also thing i read his thing wrong, only got a few min before i have to go to work, sorry everyone for my hurried stupidity

anyway, i kind of like the idea, i mean a heavy with a Minigun should move slower than a heavy with an SMG

i agree with that but if its on your shoulder you should be able to run a little faster because its easier to run with something on your back then in your hands but you are right and your speed should not be completely relying on the weapon in your hands

I think ADS is a console thing mostly.

My fav idea? Brink's got most of them. All it needs is a zombie mode.

Good luck taking iron sights off of consoles, ever try playing BC2 with out ads?

1. I don't plan to play Brink on console ;)
2. I don't play BC and will never do.
3. I know my way of thinking is outdated, but nevertheless, I still like crosshairs only.

I think having iron-sights is actually the best thing ever to happen to shooters.

It's the worst thing that happened for people who really like fast paced shooters. Atleast, that's how I look at it :)

I like the IDEA of iron sights, but its always bothered me that they tend to block half the screen. Makes it annoying to aim, especially when going for headshots, because it ends up blocking the rest of their body from view. IRL, the weapon doesn't cover up nearly as much of your field of view. I guess ill just have to add a reflex scope to most of my guns if it becomes a problem for me.

no offense but its not all about pc, the market is for consoles anyway so.......
I own around 24 games on steam so I know where your coming from i mean I love left for dead but unless you have uber guns with no recoil, perfect accuracy, and crazy power like in L4D no ads on consoles wont work,
I dont see what your problem is because you just dont have to use the feature if you dont like it, weve seen from reviews that iron sights don't really give you a big advantage, your way of thinking isnt outdate it just doesnt match up with the capabilities of consoles which will be a big part if not a majority of Brinks market.

Ok guys... this is going to be a bit long... I'm sure a lot of experienced players would think like me but most of us don't bother posting on forums...

First of all, BRINK is lining up to be one of the best games of all time... I just wish it to become an instant classic because it seems you guys took risks and put in a lot of effort... It would be a shame to make us all expect something nice and then fail horribly at polishing the game (HUM HUM MOH anyone?). Now lets get into serious buisness:
I've played shooter games for 10 years now and I reckon I'm starting to get a feel at what is wrong or what is good in those games...
I'm looking forward to BRINK because it is THE MOST original and cutting edge game of the year. I like what you did with the movement system and I've never really seen this n a fps... maybe something a bit like it in assassins creed but nowhere else.
Now I'll tell you guys what I think is important in a great fps:
-Map design: A map should be made so that there are a LOT of places to go to without promoting camping...
-Explosive weapons: care is required when balancing those, they need to be powerfull enough to be useful but not too strongqs it quickly becomes a game breaker (mw2 is a perfect example of a fail explosive balancing). For me, the best explosive balancing is in BFBC2 (apart from the c4 on explosives)
-playlists: make playlists for begginers and advanced players...
-SKILL!!! If you want people to play your game for longer... put things in it that require skill, let the best guy/team win! I'm thinking of a feature like promod in cod4, that was a pure skill based mode... same for Quakelive: if you were the best, you won, even in team based mode... you do not have to make the entire game a skill based game but at least a playlist or something for more serious gamers...
-Spawn points: we have all seen how a bad spawn system ruins a game (mw2, moh, black light tango down) and rewards spawn trapping too much as well as making it too easy.

Now what are some nice features to have in a game:
-customisation but you guys have already done that very nicely
-Challenges: the challenges from the cod serie is cool and enhances the fun factor of the game... plus I don't think it's really hard to put in the game
-HUD customization: this is more important to advanced players but to be able to vary your FOV for example or the design of the crosshair is SWEEEET (just like in quake 3 and quake live for instance...) sensitivity variation is cool too and adding "flick" would be epic: just like in quake live, which varies the sensitivity of the mouse or anolog depending if you push it a little or all the way... I dont know if I make myself clear: its not just a sensitivity set, it varies the sensitivity depending on the degree of push on the stick or mouse... complicated to explain -_-"
-callouts for map sections show up on hud for begginers just like in halo reach
-being able to do figures while freerunning would be epic XD... imagine getting a headshot at 50m in mid hair doing a backflip or a handstand submachine spray XD!!!
-KILLCAMS from MW2 were for me and my friends the ONE thing the game got right... its so cool to show your last kill to everybody and adds thrill! who's gonna get that last kill?
-Enemy tagging from bfbc2 (very useful for people who dont have mics and on maps with lots of hiding spots)
-Reward team work (BF, MOH)
-Include a 1v1 game type or event to challenge friends and mess around or practice shots in smaller maps (may not count towards overall experience... just like in reach or cod)
-A split screen (the cod have a fun splitscreen mode)
-A third or first person "Race" or "Chase" event would be fun (assassin's creed anyone?)

There I'm done... now please take this seriously, even if it's just one comment I discused this with my friends and am talking for all of them and besides those are just ideas that we think could benefit the game... I hope people comment and agree to support or discuss my ideas...

-Map design: A map should be made so that there are a LOT of places to go to without promoting camping...

SMART will allow players, especially light characters, the ability to move around the maps quite dynamically, with only heavy players limited to mostly traditional paths. In addition, SD has done everything they can to prevent camping, as they are not a fan.
-Explosive weapons: care is required when balancing those, they need to be powerful enough to be useful but not too strong it quickly becomes a game breaker (mw2 is a perfect example of a fail explosive balancing). For me, the best explosive balancing is in BFBC2 (apart from the c4 on explosives)

There are no one-hit kill weapons in Brink including grenades and grenade launchers - the only explosives. Grenades will mostly be for crowd control, knocking over opponents, and indirect attacks. There are going to be a few abilities to improve grenades in various ways, with most of those skills being for soldiers.
-playlists: make playlists for beginners and advanced players...

There has been mention of matchmaking being able to group players of similar skill together, but for the life of me, I can't remember how they said they intended to do it.

All FPS games are primarily skill based, as everything depends on your tactics, aim, and reaction, as well as reading the opponents. That being said, SD has tried to put more focus on teamwork and team skill than individual skill. Having a game mode where one skilled player on a bad team can still win the game goes against what they have planned for Brink. They have said multiple times that playing as a lone wolf won't work very well at all.
-Spawn points: we have all seen how a bad spawn system ruins a game (mw2, moh, black light tango down) and rewards spawn trapping too much as well as making it too easy.

Brink has command posts and multiple spawn points that allow players to continually spawn close to the action as the game progresses. In addition, SD has done everything they can to prevent spawn camping, to the point of putting indestructible turrets near the spawns, with a warning if you get too close to one.
-Reward team work (BF, MOH)

This is pretty much the whole game. The game is designed from the ground up to reward teamwork. All actions that help teammates give large XP bonuses, buffing teammates has a smaller energy cost and cooldown than buffing yourself. The mission system even gives options to help teammates and rewards you more XP for completing them.
-Include a 1v1 game type or event to challenge friends and mess around or practice shots in smaller maps (may not count towards overall experience... just like in reach or cod)

SD has said that room sizes are adjustable, with 8v8 as a max. Even if that weren't the case, you could always make a private room without AI.
-A split screen (the cod have a fun splitscreen mode)

I'm lead to understand that there will be no splitscreen mode in the game.

Sorry if some of my answers seem blunt, there was just a lot to respond to.

But very important to highlight: The K/D ratio does not equal Skill.

Motion-sickness, anyone?

I like Killcams as well. But not for the "who'll get the last kill"-aspect, but because they reveal campers and also allow you to learn from other players.

-A third or first person "Race" or "Chase" event would be fun (assassin's creed anyone?)

I'd love to see something like that.

thanks for yor answers guys... but I have more questions...
Even a headshot with the sniper rifle wont be a one hit kill?

I understand that the point of the game is not to be a lone wolf but in games like MW2 the most skilled team did not always win... I just hope they make it so that skill wins the game like in cod 2 or quake... even if its team skill...

Is there even going to be game types or is it just objective and ticket based... if there is what would be your favorite ideas for game types? Classics and original ones!

Do we have any precision on WHAT we'll be able to customize? (hud and stuff) and what guns are going to be in the game? Thanks

Afaik the most sniper-ish rifle does kill an unbuffed Light Body Tye character with one headshot.

Also I haven't seen any ticket-based (talking Battlefield Series here?) gamemode yet, but only a objective-based, time-limited one.

Your character will be customiseable, your weapons will be customiseable. That's it, I think. But that's pretty much for a FPS.

I'd like to add that it's not always time limited. When the attacking team can decide the match before the time-limit expires, the match will be over.
There's also a stopwatch mode, forcing you to play both sides on the same map, trying to beat the other teams time. Presumably this will be the main competition gamemode. They don't intend to make a FFA, or TDM type of gameplay, which is good.

I kind of agree that not having Team Deathmatch or Deathmatch. But sometimes these can be fun. So having them as a Sudden Death game mode in case of a draw could be fun.

From what I have heard, no weapon is able to kill in one shot to any player, even a headshot against a light. But, they have implied that, with various damage buffs, it may be possible with certain weapons, like the short rifles.

Brink already has full customizable characters. Thats all I need. I could spend the whole game running around the map if I wanted to, and I would be perfectly content.

One of my fav features is being able to leap across rooftops in Crackdown, and another is being able to turn my enemies into chickens in Ratchet and Clank.
Might wanna leave those ones out of brink...
