Team deathmatch

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:14 pm

also there is no point in team deatch match , all you would see is heavy medic team just reviving each other endlessly...useless

I disagree, because I enjoy killing off groups of people trying to revive each other, esp with nades... easy points

Of course SD would have some minor changes to implement if a DM/TDM playlist were offered. Even less with a multi-flag CTF style game. I'm not saying that I don't like the objective games that we were given, because they are a blast. I just would like a few more options is all. The games I've played, with no lag, have been insanely fun.

It has a reverse effect as well. Meaning players would start playing for kill in the Objective modes.

SD has promoted this game as an 'Objective Team Based' game from the get go. I don't understand how people are disappointed by this. What did you expect it to have some form of Deathmatch?

The deathmatch mode could have a different leaderboard, a more competitive one. Many players would be happy with it since they already want kill and death counts

PLEASE no deathmatch. This is supposed to be a team-based game, the last thing we need is a bunch of noobs whining about their KDR.

I'd prefer regular Deathmatch, but considering the object of this game in general is team-based combat, I'll say Team Deathmatch to stay with the game's intended team play. nothing wrong with people wanting not to achieve objectives but would instead rather shoot each other up.

Capture the Flag would be a nice mode too.

Now that I gave it more thought and talked it over with a few buddies I kinda think a TDM variant would work. If any of you have played the recent Gears3 beta you would know that they have added a Team Deathmatch mode. Here is how it works: each team starts with a set amount of live, in the case of Gears3 it's 15. So if one guy died 15 times your team lost.

At the start of the match everyone rushes to get the first few kills, once it is down to the wire players start to play conservatively. So it really is a tactical game variant. So yeah maybe if they did add TDM Splash Damage would put some tweaks into it. Though it could only be Team Deathmatch because SD is all about Teamwork.

TDM would ruin the game and go against everything the development team has worked for. I am surprised at how many people voted that they want TDM. Anyone who has spent a few hours with the game should know this.

i would really like to see CTF, control points, and team deathmatch added. i could care less about FFA deathmatch. the game is intended for team-based gameplay so it wouldnt make sense to have deathmatch.

dunno why CTF and deathmatch especially werent added.

A lot of you guys are asking for devs to add deathmatch game mode. In my opinion it wont happen because the game is so concentrated and balanced for teamplay that I dont see It being very enjoyable. However team deathmatch would be absolutely perfect. It could be like pvp arena in WOW.
And of course there could be other types of matches, because these missions can go dull after time.

you know time challange (or what ever its called) is like team deathmatch just with a timer instead of a limit of kill

Make it a teamoriented DM. So if you beat someone alone it gives you like 25 XP. If you beat an enemy with a teammate in combination you will be rewarded with 50 XP each for example.

Just to clear out, the maps have real potential but you can`t play them by their full potential at the moment. That`s one thing why i like BFBC2 you can play either rush or conquest and i do like both modes. Whereas rush leads to several chokepoints because of the objectives conquest offers a total different flaw to the same map.
So yes, TDM and other modes would be fine because it`s needed to hold the players. That`s just my opinion.

its just to easy to kill people in this game so TD is out of the picture i would rather see like king of the hill or like a sabotage, heck even bring something to the table like a race using the Free running aspect of this game to its full potential.

Guys, This game isnt supposed to have gamemodes like team deathmatch and deathmatch. That would take out the Teamwork, AND THATS WHAT THIS GAME IS ABOUT!

I'm a firm believer in "the more game types the better"

I personally wouldn't be all that interested in a straight fwd DM or TDM sytle, but that doesn't mean others wont be... i think it's petty for the ones who don't like that style of play to criticize it. If you don't like it don't play it, your eyes wont turn to plasma in your skulls from seeing DM options on the list.

What would be interesting is to see a type of deathmatch that requires the people playing to use different classes, but the goal is still win by conquering in kills. IE engy does his command post upgrades to buff everyone and lays down support, medics heal, soldiers trigger bomb events for multi-kills or buffs etc...In clans, groups, parties i think this would be pretty awesome.

I would however like to see a straight fwd type of CTF. the aspect of go get it and return it is enjoyable for me, especially if i can load it up and go nuts on some SMG corner sniping bots with a few buddies.

I saw someone say that there being only one spawn point being a problem and he's right, but it honestly wouldn't take any more effort to take an existing map add more spawn points and whatever logic is needed to swap those spawn points as it would to create an objective in that same map.

So i support more game types... whatever they are.

I don`t understand why people can be so indisposed. I mean it`s actually making the game more attractive having different playmodes and everybody would benefit of it. Also you should be realistic, a mp game with only one mode want survive long.Yes, maybe Brink will have a small playerbase but it will get boring with this one mode. I`m really sure that most of the people here yelling NO would also have their fun with different modes.

Like i said in a previous post, i do like Brink for its teamoriented gamestyle that`s why i bought it. But i would also like to get Brink to it`s full potential and therefore more gamemodes are needed.

HERE IS WHY TEAM DEATHMATCH WON'T WORK:

Say the kill limit is 50. Your team is down by 4 points, 15 -11. You organize your guys and set out to kill some.

But where are they?
They're not here, they're not there.

At some point, you stumble upon a turret and hear your squad commander sya something like: "This is the enemy deployment zone, get out of there!". Just as the turret shoots you down, you can get a glimpse of 8 people standing in the back of their spawn point, waiting out their inevitable win.

You see, Brink's objective based play forces movement. If you don't move to either a secondary objective or a primary objective, you lose.

But with TDM that wouldn't be necessary. Camping and hiding would go rampant. And Brink's maps aren't made for that. There are so many close quarter corners and tight areas that would take away any fun in TDM.

Agree completely.

CTF and other modes would be good, though. We'd need to see more maps, mind. The current list is limited to say the least.

Other: Have a single objective in the middle of a map that either side can accomplish. This will result in huge clashes at the center of the map as people attempt to complete it. Many kills will result. It's like being trapped between a Heavy and a two-way repairable vehicle. Intense!
