Texture Pack Is A Slap In The Face

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 1:51 am

How much have you run around? Fast travel to a bunch of places, times of day. I was underwhelmed at first until I looked around a bit and notice everything is just, better.

That being said, I see some spots where hires packs from modders are still better. I have a great potions and bottles one that is superior to the DLC ones still.

THIS... Don't just look for five seconds and then make a post on here complaining... Play for 20 mins or so at at least

TME nope, looks 100% the same to me. In fact, it didn't even download properly the first time, had to do a repair.

I like your sig.

If you have a load of loose texture files in your Skyrim/Data/Textures folder from other texture packs, you will still see those instead.

Some people are never happy, even if it's free.

THANK YOU!

I could not agree more! The Hi-Rez textures are the exact same textures used in our existing game, so what do people expect, different textures? Why should they re-make entirely new textures for everything in this game?

Because we were promised "ultra hi-res textures" before release, then get Medium-High 3 months after release.

No we weren't. We were promised higher res textures, and they were. Vanilla textures are higher res on PC than on console.
They never said how higher res though :ermm:

I'd say that the texture packs is definitely an improvement, and I appreciate it. There are however texture mods that do miles better work, so I'll be using mods instead.
Nonetheless, I really appreciate Bethesda doing something extra for the PC version, even though it, to be honest, isn't on par with things already out on the Internet.

I took quick before/after screenshots in Ivarstead. You can notice the difference slightly on the wooden posts. I am disappoint.

Get over it, it's free... stop feeling super entitled.

If you're unhappy with something, mod it.

It looks not all the textures benefited. Some of the worst textures at least are gone and replaced by decent sized ones.

Why do some people insist on apologizing for Beth?

Why do some people insist on complaining about absolutely everything?

We may never know.

Maybe there was a mistake, maybe they added the wrong textures to the BSA (a man can dream!).

Textures are still horrendous. Thanks for supporting the PC fanbase...or not.

Let me me get this straight - a *FREE* and OPTIONAL texture upgrade is a "Slap in the Face"?

If Bethesda baked homemade cookies for each of you and Todd Howard personally delivered it to your house, some of you would say that the cookies were a "slap in the face" because they weren't delicious enough and that "Bethesda lied".

Not apologizing, anyways how many other domestic Video game companies that support the RPG genre offer the highest support ever for their modding community these days?

EA, Bioware, Blizzard, Ubisoft? .....Yeah, I'd have to say that Bethesda is worth supporting if you ask me!

And it wasn't even hyped, it was (intended) to be a little surprise.

Sigmunde, suppose before they were delivered we were promised several different flavours and levels of crunchiness... then when they arrived it was only extra crunchy oatmeal. And you're allergic to oatmeal.

I'd like to also point out that everyone this thread concerns owns Skyrim for the PC. If you don't like Bethesda's improvements, http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=607

Nothing lost.

You realize that Beth didn't have to give this to us, right? It's a free gift and you say it's terrible and go as far as saying they don't support the PC.
Ever since Skyrim came out I've seen nothing but love coming from Beth, notably the patches that added 4GB ram support and CPU usage improvements.
The Creation kit looks amazing and I will surely try it out alongside reading the Wiki and the tutorial videos. Bethesda really does love the PC fanbase.

Exactly, it was designed to be a nice free gift from Bethesda yet some people insist on complaining because they have nothing better to do.

Interesting how they did it in 880 MB (versus Bethesda with 3.1 GB) yet there's looks better. Makes you wonder what's inside these BSAs.
