That spell looks dangerous! Keep your distance.

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:12 pm

It's not like one of those random things they say. I used to hear "Don't go picking any locks on my watch." or "I have a lot of respect for restoration." or "Don't go catching anything on fire.", but those were just every now and then. Literally, EVERY person I walk near or talk to says "That spell looks dangerous, keep your distance." I'm not exaggerating. It's seriously every NPC in the game that I have come across thus far.
If it really is every single npc, then that sounds like a bug. Maybe reload and earlier save and see if it still happens?

It's only after a certain point in my saves. I'm a level 44 right now, and at level 37 they don't say it, but at 38 they do.
I have tons of saves on this game, I just realized. haha.

I have the same thing, It doesn't matter if I have any spells equipped or if I have any summons up, the only thing I ever hear from everyone in Skyrim is along the lines of "That spell looks dangerous, keep away from me". It really is everyone and all the time, the only way to make them stop is to take everything off so they say "put some clothes on" ..I'm very tempted to go Skyrim streaking for a while just to stop people whining about this dangerous spell of mine. :P

I swear I hate every single child in the game. Especially the ones in Dragonreach. I'm not a bloody [censored] servant.

Oh..and Nazeem. I don't even know what a cloud district is.

All guards seem to treat any spell you have equipped as a potentially dangerous one. We were in the middle of a dragon fight in town and I equipped Heal Other to keep the guy alive and he tells me something about how I better put that spell away. Talk about grateful...

The over load of NPC quips has been the one thing that continues to annoy me about this game. They really need to tone this down, or someone should mod it, because it's as ridiculous as you say and only ruins immersion. Why can't they just say hello every now and then -- or better yet, nothing at all! I mean I like the commenting on my abilities to an extent, but...just no. Bad Bethesda.

they say stuff according to which skill you got high

they said to me once: "i heard you are quite the alchemist.. can you breed me some ale?"

The lack of brewing (and fletching) is one of the biggest shortcomings with the crafting system.

I don't know why they didn't like the Frost Atronach stomping around but they didn't. :D

Haha, I hope you meant brew.

I always wondered how those nords made their ale taste so good...

This. I think the glitch relates to death thrall. Have you been using death thrall lately?

Have you ever conjured something before? I've heard there's a glitch that makes NPCs think you have an active Atronach or thrall when it died hours ago. I've also heard wearing Ebony Mail makes NPCs think you have a spell in your hand.

I've only heard the phrase in the OP when I've got a summon with me in town.

There's a mod that keeps people from saying that.

you don't have any thralls active do you, (Undead, storm atronachs, frost atronachs or fire atronachs) even it you leave them in your house they show up under active effects. And that may be whats causing the issue.

I'd like to see them make it where if I am just standing there and an NPC walks by, he doesn't stert trying to talk my ear off. I've been trying to listen to story-related dialogue and some stupid NPC starts talking to me, and I miss what is being said.

First thing I'm going to do when the creation kit comes out is look into creating a mod that sets a varriable called plotcon to 1 while plot-related NPCs are talking and set a condition where random NPC pvssyr does not happen while plotcon=1. Plotcon would be reset to 0 when the conversation is over. It would probably take a while to pull off, and I'll do it one questline at a time. But it would be good to not have to listen to multiple NPCs jabbering.

It is the dead thrall bug for sure.

You don't even have to have the thrall with you.

You people who never experienced this have no idea how obnoxious it is, everywhere, every two seconds someone says, "That spell looks dangerous, keep your distance!" constantly. They don't say anything else.

A really simple way to fix it is to turn into a werewolf, but the better way is to you the mod that fixes it.

I hate the kid that says..."Another wanderer here to lick my father's boots, good job" It makes me want to download a certain mod. :swear:
But the only time I have had someone say "That spell looks dangerous" is when I have atronachs or dremora lords out.

If you have a summon out they will always say that. That's the only thing I dislike about my Storm Thralls.

Destruction is one of your highest skills then, which people notice.

Also....Nords hate magic. (except restoration, which people will make positive comments about)

It's the Azura Star my friends, you might wanna do a read up in UESP wiki.

EDIT: My Necromancer was one of the sufferers after I got that Daedric Artifact, NPCs stop trolling ever since I got rid of the Azura Star though. Am sure it would be different if I took the Black Star instead.

They keep saying I favor the bow, and that I'm a sneak thief even though I focus on magic and one-handed swords. But I do like when they say I'm the one that casts those illusions, or I'm that mage from the college.
