Do the clothing options actually offer any protective benefi

i believe the clothing is purely cosmetic, which doesn't bother me at all :)
it makes the game more balanced!

It does make sense that SD have the outfits cosmetic only, or else everybody would want ONE outfit.

It's a great way to keep it personalized.

Still, I think I can safely say that the majority of players for Security will be the Bug and the majority on Resistance will be the Anger.

yup, i know i'm going to prominently be the anger when i am able to acquire the angers items unless you start with them.

I hate conformity...

That's right, clothing customisation is purely for looks and does not modify your stats. It's all about choosing the outfit you feel best represents you rather than forcing you to pick certain items because of the stats they offer.

Also, you can sort of tell how long people have been playing the game based on the bling they've got on their characters. For example, if you create a second character, that character will have access to all of the clothing you've already unlocked, letting you hop into the game wearing higher level outfits.

Thank you for responding to my question. Although I was initially in favor of a stat boost, I understand and accept your company's reasoning behind this decision. In fact now that I think about it, I do remember how much I hated having to wear this god awful hockey mask in Fallout 3 because of the additional power it offered.

I look forward to playing your fine product. Hope you all end up with fat bonus checks this coming holiday.

I was wondering if anyone knew if the apparel options provided any damage resistance like they did in Bethesda's previous work, Fallout 3? And if so, does the increased bulk also come with a movement restriction to offset their protective advantage?

For example, the video "A Matter of Class", features two very impressive Jacket options called "The Tank" and "The Bomb" that look like they would be perfect for Heavy Engineers who will find themselves stationary targets while making a stand defending a particular area (I was going to insert screenshots of these items but couldn't figure out how to post them - I saw the insert image icon but it required me to enter an "image URL" and I have no idea how that works).

Forgive me if this is a repeat question that has already been asked and answered.

You use...a lot of big words! Lol.

Oh, thank the gods! (
But really, I get so sick and tired of playing the hell out of my characters in other games trying to unlock everything separately.
My new character will be able to choose from any of the clothing I unlocked with my other character? Awesome.

Actually, no. But I can see how the reference could be made.
I was referring to William Shakespeare (hard to tell I know).

They have to be completely cosmetic, otherwise the entire point of customization is lost in favor of advantages given. Simple logic.
