is the commonwealth

Already had a big robot nemesis. I personally don't like the androids from the commonwealth. They don't fit Fallout. Sure the Institute could be a bubble in time. After so many generations alone they advanced tech past what was possible in fallout's 2077. I just don't like it because it advances the tech to far from the 1950's feel. That being said all those years alone made them lonely and they had all the time in the world to make android women

Would be awesome in FO4 to see the commonwealth as a big brothel run by the nerds. They use the androids as the brothel "employees."

Anyways going off topic. No they will not be in New Vegas at least I hope they won't be.
Androids have been in science fiction since before the 1950s. I, Robot was based around androids. An android is just a robot with a humanoid shape and/or appearance (such as in the case of Westworld. It's a 1970s film though) and generally artificial intelligence.

Androids don't clash with the 1950s feel. Maybe the humanoid basis, but the Institute may just be advancing in technology much like the NCR is advancing in society, and thus found a way to create androids with artificial skin, hair, etc.

I agree androids are apart of 1950's Science fiction. I enjoyed the movie Westworld.

These androids do clash. Adroids in 1950's science fiction are less animated they are more like automatons then people. In a Fallout setting with big boxy robots and tube tvs. A robot that looks human, bleeds, expels bodily waste, grows facial hair and thinks is human is just to much. I agree the Institute could have and looks like they have advanced to that point. I am sure they have their labs and are isolated, having 200 years to advance. It just does not fit right with me.

True. But like I said with Westworld they could just perhaps have an artificial skin. If Harkness bled, [censored], grew hair, etc. then yes I agree that's too much, but otherwise I don't see much problem with them appearing humanoid, assuming they pull it off in a good way in the next Fallout game/whatever game the Institute will appear in. I definitely don't want this "androids trying to be freed" crud though. There needs to be a reason to have human looking androids above all else, not just 'cause.

I thought he did? When you tell him he's not human he says something like "but I cut myself shaving" does he not?

Commonwealth is East Coast, and there appears to be little cross country travel for folks or news in the Fallout World so it is doubtful. While the BOS made it East, they are a military organization better suited to fighting there way across the wasteland.

Hmm, that might be a cool game, to play the BOS as they move across the country.

Thumbs up to that idea, but the problem people would have with it, would probably be it's lack of RPG style like the others have. But I'd be up for something like that! :tops:

As for the Commonwealth, no, they're probably not rearing their head up until FO4 or later?

Last I checked, MIT and Mass was still along the East Coast/Atlantic Ocean, not the Great Lakes?

I hope not, they didn't make sense whatsoever. Silicon chips don't exist in the Fallout universe, yet they managed to make a friggin' android?!
