Right before anybody says anything i've gone through the forum couldnt find anything on this so here goes:-

1.is commonwealth going to rear its head?
2.we've seen some of the weapons in regards to F:NV so will at any stage commonwealth tech becoming into play?
3.it seems a dead end that needs finishing or is this a later game??

but my guess is no for all because the commonwealth is on the east coast.

Commonwealth is East Coast, and there appears to be little cross country travel for folks or news in the Fallout World so it is doubtful. While the BOS made it East, they are a military organization better suited to fighting there way across the wasteland.

Hmm, that might be a cool game, to play the BOS as they move across the country.

The commonwealth is situated in Massachusetts. New Vegas is in Nevada. They're thousands of miles apart.

[More than likely] we won't be seeing the commonwealth or the Institute until Fallout 4 or a future Fallout game.

i thought the BoS came to the east coast by way of airship correct me if im wrong but isnt that why in tactics ur in chicago because that airship was damaged and they had to land there.

Nothing about the Commomwealth has been mentioned by the developers. There might be some reference in game, but we won't know until 10/19.

Tactics' value as canon is... debatable. Airships seem to be out of the question, only the biggest events are actually considered to have happened.

I doubt it. Unless the Institute has some serious firepower and connections, there will probably be no mention of them in New Vegas.

From what i've read so far it seems there is advance tech - if thats the case has the commonwealth paid a visit i would like in f:3...i.e A.I memory wipe !!

DC is not a far trip from Boston (the assumed location of the Institute in the Commonwealth) in the Fallout universe. Boston to New Vegas is another matter entirely - tech or no. It's doable, but without an extremely compelling reason to go that far, it's unlikely anyone would have done so. There's many closer settlements where an escaped android can hide, and Rivet City still remains chief among them.

Seriously, in FO3, the Commonwealth is located north of DC, probably of the USA. What country is located north of the USA?
CANADA! I believe that the Commonwealth is just a synonym for "somewhere in Canada" but that's just speculations.

Cool down a step, in F3 it is said that they had good tech and so if they had a need to go there they could in theory make it...

id say it was part of north east US and part south east Canada (going over the US-Canada Border)

Why do people think the Commonwealth are this big faction? We know nothing of their numbers. All we know if they have tech to advanced for fallout. They come from a place called the "Institute". Now what place has alot of smart people and is north of DC and has "Institute" in the name? How about The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) located in Cambridge, Massachusetts! So the Commonwealth could be nothing more then a group of nerds living in some vault under or close to MIT.

From all the talk I read, some people think they are the next Enclave or BoS. Great next big faction on the east coast will be Nerds :facepalm: I would bet they are more interested in making Android women to take on date and have six with then being the next big wasteland faction. My two cents.

I always pictured them as just a bunch of scientists held up in a fortress with their androids and security. I don't think they have the army presence to go against the BOS unless they used their android technology to make a robot army like we saw in Tactics. That should make you happy, Styles. A robot nemesis.

no I'm simply saying in theory that they most likely have the technology needed to traverse that distance and if they had a reason in theory they could im not saying they will or anything im just once again saying they most likely have the means by witch to travel that far

Already had a big robot nemesis. I personally don't like the androids from the commonwealth. They don't fit Fallout. Sure the Institute could be a bubble in time. After so many generations alone they advanced tech past what was possible in fallout's 2077. I just don't like it because it advances the tech to far from the 1950's feel. That being said all those years alone made them lonely and they had all the time in the world to make android women :wink_smile:

Would be awesome in FO4 to see the commonwealth as a big brothel run by the nerds. They use the androids as the brothel "employees."

Anyways going off topic. No they will not be in New Vegas at least I hope they won't be.

I picture it somewhat like in The Terminator. Indeed a bunch of scientists are held up in a fortress with their androids and security, but there's also a lot of people living outside and around them who are starving and are fighting for freedom because they know that the Institute have the capacity to feed and house them all! But the Institute sends out these androids to "deal with them"...
