The Continuing Adventures of LulzSec and Friends

I guess, I'm hoping he keeps an eye on them at any rate, but I'm fairly certain he nailed it as far as Nakomis goes.

Well, the way he said "or not" kind of indicates that he's going to be keeping an eye on them. If LulzSec are really taking a break this weekend, they aren't an immediate threat at the moment, so now he's using the opportunity to go back to what he normally does.

They'd best be glad they didn't hit the CIA again though, because that would be the perfect way to tick him off.

And he's given the authorities a bit more stuff to work with, even if he hasn't contacted them directly.

Since jester outed these guys, any chance they can be arrested now?

Problem is, the evidence Jester revealed would likely be inadmissable in court. The good news, though, is now the authorities know who to keep an eye on so they can get some evidence that'll actually stand up when these guys are finally dragged off to trial.

Whatever you put on the internet is never gone and can always be found ;).
I'm sure jester just knows where to look to find it.

Indeed. And the batman emoticon was never more appropriate.

Unless you go to the trouble of tracking it all down and destroying it yourself. Although, even then, there are no guarantees. And it would be a lot of work (going through various web archives then cracking in and deleting anything relevant would be just one of the challenges).

I wonder if there are any business which specialise in tracking down all of one's web presence.

Actually, unless my understanding of law is extremely off-base (which is entirely possible) the evidence Jester brings up is admissable in court- at least in US courts.

Y'see, evidence is inadmissable when the cops get it by doing something illegal (i.e. entering into a house or wiretapping without a search warrent.) Jester isn't law enforcement, and while he would get it via illegal means, he'd drop it all off on the police's front doorstep. Nothing in the law says that police can't use that as evidence in that case (though it opens up a can of worms since the Defense can say that the evidence could be fabricated, since the police didn't get it themselves.)

So, basically, its the same as information gathered from an 'real life' informant, no?

Pretty much. Except it's a lot more than just eyewitness testimony.

'Informant' is not the same as 'witness'. A witness is someone who has seen stuff, an informant is just someone who knows stuff :P.

Unless I'm wrong.

Correct. Informants generally help point law enforcement in the right direction, whereas a witness is called upon to testify for/against the person.

I looked around google and this guys personal info is all around the net. Youtube channel, accessed week a go, myspace, prom pics... can it be, hmm. Doesn't matter if they are removed, they'll stay in google's cache for a while, I bet.

The guy jester named few hours ago and posted his name and links to prom pics etc. I haven't been following this too closely yet, so I missed who exactly this was supposed to be. I'm just surprised to see how much info is available on simple web searches with the name along with pictures. I would expect a little more info on how he found out the name and what makes him believe this is the guy.

Ok, this is all very confusing, whose who, and who pretends to be who. I looked back in old entries and it seems this same name has been bouncing around since April. I didn't pay any attention to this cyber battle until this week, so I'm lost. Heh, maybe it's one and the same guy, go figure.
