The Courier's Vault?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:10 am

I wonder....why the HELL everyone wants to be a character that's from FO3\A FO3's characters relative? You sound like little kiddos asking for it all the time.

I was wondering the same thing.. Everyone just let that 19 year old demi-god kid rest for a while, he's been through some tough [censored] in the first years of his young advlt life.

There are still good people in this world who value human life other than their own.

Like Harold and possibly now Doc Mitchell. Perhaps doubly so considering he's a doctor.

He's just a medicine man in a sleepy wasteland town, The Courier is a guy that travels the waste and miraculously barely survives a shot in the head. I think the miracle patient could use the help a lil bit more.

The Doc was frm vault 21 , i bet He may ask for something in return like help win back vault 21 from House.

Just my theory, no one just forks over a PDA processor and says, "go nuts!"

He'd given that pipboy as a reason. Maybe it has a failsafe on it and its rigged to blow. Later on we meet the 'good' doc and he 'encourages' you to take back his vault or some other hidden agenda. Maybes hes got a deal with the NCr to help take down House and get his vault back or something.

I don't know about that...

Seems like any RPG with any connections to Japan whatsoever has that "look at me I've got amnesia but I'm still s strong person" aftertaste. And If it's REALLY Japanese, the characters strength will come from the love they have for their friends...barf

Hey,what's wrong with Japanses RPGs huh? :stare:
It's got no connection with the fallout universe :fallout:

I want to know, how does a Fallout character "barely survive a shot in the head" when in fallout, you are can be shot multiple times in the head, get bombed by grendades, tackled by Yao Guai and Deathclaw, hit in the face with a Super Mutant Behemoth fire hydrant, etc. How the heck does one little bullet almost kill you?!

Well doesn't the mean that doc marshal also has the tools to take off his pip boy, and place it on somebody else, because remember, one the pip boy is on you, it's biomedically sealed to you for life, and can only be removed to be serviced by a vault technician, like Stanly from vault 101.

Ehhh, alot of people believe the Biometric Locks is a part of the Vault 101 Overseer Proganda, so some of us take its whole 'IT'S ON YA FOR LIFE HUEHUEHUE' bit with a grain of salt.

Agreed.

I mean, if it is stuck to you for life, then why are you able to pull the sleeves through the inside? Occam's Razor: It's not. Though WE can't take it off, storywise, it's possible to remove it.

It's hard to tell because Fallout 3 isn't consistent about this, at all. Stanley says you can't take it off, but then he proceeds to say that it has to be removed for maintenance every 10-20 years. You also have to remove it to change your clothes.

I am of the viewpoint that the PipBoy 3000 is easily removable by the person wearing it, but for anyone else it's extremely difficult.

I think that, that makes sense, it can be easily removed by the person wearing it, who knows, it may even be something like you're not required to wear it, but it's prefered? also I can forsee medical problems wearing something that long on the same part of your body.. just saying lol but yeah that only makes sense.

Actually the PIP-Boy, despite how locked on it is, lets clothes slide easily under it. It is said on the Wiki that it is impossible to take off the PIP-Boy because of it's biometric seals. But I do kind of believe what you said about Stanley. Maybe it's just something Fallout didn't really think through.

If you can't unseal it at will though you wouldn't be able to slide shirt/armor sleeves under it... at least not as smoothly as the Lone Wanderer does in Fallout 3. I mean some of the shirts the LW puts under that thing are pretty thick judging by the ends of the sleeves.

But I do kind of believe what you said about Stanley. Maybe it's just something Fallout didn't really think through.

He does actually state that PipBoys have to be removed for regular maintenance; I believe it's the dialogue option at your birthday party where you tell him that Wally Mack called your model a piece of junk. It's very much possible to remove them without taking an arm off, so I'm fairly sure Doc Mitchell could actually remove his PipBoy if he really wanted to.

the courier didnt have to come from a vault. not everyone in the outside world was from a vault. some people found other means to hide out from the nuclear winter (most likely underground sewer passages unless the nuclear weapons collapsed the tunnels), so for all we know the courier couldve been born out in the wastelands of the USA. he may not even be from the New Vegas area, he could be from a courier service in some other rebuilt city-state/republic.

the pipboy was given to him by doc mitchell so he could easily navigate the wastes better, the vault 21 jumpsuit so he wouldnt be running around ass naked XD

WELL... actually it was hit by nukes bushudo1, just far less then the rest of the country/world. also, pip boys wern't just given to residents of the vaults, you know that right? you could buy them retail before the war to use and stuff, I remember seeing an ad for one on a bilboard or something in fallout 1.

It wasn't directly hit. Presumably all of the world is Wasteland, just some places did better than others. (Oasis, anyone?)
