The Dawnguard Bunker

There is absolutely nothing appealing about joining the Dawnguard.

The DLC is only worth as much time it takes you to get sick of playing a Vampire Lord.

Bad guys always get the cool stuff.

Why can't Dawnguard warriors turn into angels or something?
Just because we haven't seen too much that's cool, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Although I'll side with the vampires, I wouldn't dismiss the Dawnguard just yet.

I think that my first playthrough will be with the Dawnguard and the second as a vampire. I'm glad it was announced that in Dawnguard, werewolf players can have their lycanthropy overwritten by vampirism if they so choose.

No. This would kill all life on Nirn, ending the Elder Scrolls series completely. Well maybe you will be able to actually and the lore will just state it was blocked out for a year or something before a force stormed the castle and liberated the Elder Scroll, restoring the sun.

Nirn's sun is not a star as we know it and as far as I recall, it's never be stated whether or not its existance plays a role in plantlife.

The vampires may look more interesting atm.. but considering the Weapons/Armors/Spells that are already in the game, then the Dawnguard have a power advantage.
Vampires are undead spell casters... a warrior with SpellBreaker plus DawnBreaker, will probably be able to take them all on.
Or a Mage with high restoration skills -Bane of Undead- will also be able to destroy the vampires and the things in Soul Cairn pretty easily.

It actually does, if I remember correctly. Oblivion had a note explaining that Nirnroot could grow without sunlight, hinting that other plants do, in fact, require it. That said, I DO wonder how one could possibly "blot out" this specific sun. :\

Yeah I've heard this before as well. I'm almost certain the sun plays a huge part in plant life on Nirn.

I stand corrected. Now that you mention it, I do remember re: nirnroot. As to how they may block out the sun, doesn't it stand to reason that it would be more of a 'closing the hole?' Further, would they need to also worry about all the stars? Granted, that's never been an issue for any Vampire lore I am familiar with.

I suppose, but the hole made by Magnus is gigantic. Actually closing it would require some massive power. They'd almost be better off smacking a plane of Oblivion in front of it.

Man, not a lot of love for the Dawnguard here. I for one cannot wait to go vampire hunting. It was my favorite pass time as well as main source of currency in Oblivion. I just can't wait to go up to a "superior being" and chop off its head for fun...might be why I kill wandering Thalmor.

They forgot the most epic thing when creating the dawnguard. How do you forget to add whips when making vampire hunters? Whip Weapon types yes please.

Yes, because when there is a Vampire Lord flying towards you svcking the soul out of everything nearby its a good time to start acting out your fetishes

in skyrim, the book nirnroot missive suggest there was a time when the sun was blocked out before and other plants seemed to adapt

"Although many scholars reject the proposal that the Sun's Death event of 1E 668 catastrophically affected plant life, Chivius felt that the nirnroot's normal growth cycle was interrupted by the lack of sun for a full year. Whereas other plant species tend to "find a way," the nirnroot's mysterious magical nature made it especially susceptible to this climate shift."

So does anyone else think we'll be getting a Falmer or Snow Prince side quest? Or have they possibly joined with the vampires. All of Molag Bal's people in one DLC? It kinda looks like a vampire behind the falmer in the picture below. Wonder if old Molag will appear again what with all of his enslaved wondering around.

Very funny reply sir and yea its more a castlevania thing but you cannot say a whip with a spiked ball at the end wouldnt make for some pretty cool death animations.

Maybe the sun won't be blocked out, just...changed. Like it no longer effects vampires, has a different color, but still helps plants grow. Come on guys, this is the power of the elder scrolls we're talking about here. Almost anything is possible.

Bet it couldn't make spears :P
But i do think they got the idea for blotting out the sun from the Sun's Death in the 1E ... it'll probably say that they had attempted it then and the dawnguard stopped them, then the dawnguard dissapeared and are recruiting again.

I'm much more excited about the things we haven't seen, heard, or have been told about then what has been shown so far. Don't get me wrong, I am very excited for the Vampire Lords, new perks, etc. But, I mean looking back at the past DLC there's always a bit more than what they show. As far as Dawnguard of Vampires go, I'm on the fence a bit. My main character is Lvl. 49, and a Werewolf. I'm probably going to do Dawnguard first, and then work on another character for the other side. I want me some new weapons.

Wow. In Oblivion, I think they mentioned that it grew especially well in dark areas. I hate it when texts are contradictory...
