Two hrs, 4 stealth boys, 5 reloads, 60 .308 AP rounds and a whole lots os swearing I finally killed all of the Deathclaws in the Quary. The reward wasn't worth it but the satisfaction of watching those over grown bastards die WAS!!!

It boggles my mind how much difficulty people have with deathclaws... just snipe them... not a sniper? Cripple their legs and dance circles around them... too incompetent to shoot legs? Don't bother. (To melee/unarmed characters, you blow my mind... lol.)

Regardless, congratulations on your accomplishment, I'm sure it's a great relief to get that out of the way. :celebration:

Now you should go to Deathwind Carven

thats your thing .308 you have to get the drop on them with a head shot or cripple their legs before they make it to you. Favorite weapons in game the .50 AMR, Gauss Rifle"does more damage than any weapon in the game if you got the right perks and stats" the named gatling gun and the laser gatling. between all 4 of those death claws are no match=) most of the time they drop in one shot before they know im there.

I never had any problems with them on my first character (gun user). By the time I decided to clean out quarry junction, I had a sniper rifle, and could easily sneak attack one shot all the regular deathclaws. Only the two big ones posed a problem, because they had so much health on very hard. But I just popped psycho+slasher and just shot away as they ran to me. Now on my second character (melee+unarmed), they are [censored] hard, since they sit around in packs, so you almost never get to fight just one at a time. And with their damn jump attack that pushes you out of range that they just keep doing, it makes it difficult to even hit them at all.

No it's cool my pain can b Amorites pleasure lol. I was sneaking and was using the sniper rifle with Ed E perk guns where at 100 and a strength of 8. Those thing r just fast as hell my mines didn't even slow the alpha male down and he ran threw like 6 of them. I left Ed E at Sloan and took Cassette with. I know now I should have brought Boone. All I could hear is Cassette yelling nothing even slows these things down. Lol poor chic wet herself. All in all I guess wanted to [censored] about how tough they r. My GF was like why do u play this game if it piss's u off so bad. Lol.

Sniper rifle with JSP rounds and 100 Guns = One shot kills on all DCs except the Legendary one. He took two.

I don't know how melee characters could possibly deal with packs of them though. That's got to be rough.

When I killed them I went around the right side as your looking in. Killed a couple and went to the upper level. While up there I climbed up on the conveyor ramp and jumped on the actual conveyor belt and sniped from the very top of the belt. Seems there was a bug that caused them to run in circles and they couldnt find me. Hardest part was getting a good shot on the mother as she ran around non stop. Dont know if I got lucky or its a glitch since it seems they dont respawn.

I don't think they respawn because they r part of a quest. Could b wrong I'll find out tonight when I head back in to search buildings and stuff. I expect to run into regular Deathclaws but not the alpha and the mom.

Easy task with the .50 AMR and standard ammo, just sneak and snipe, stay on the upper ledges around the perimeter of the quarry and you should be golden.

Deathclaws you can try shoot legs but try doing that when there more then one walking together may cripple one but by that time the others have got you they have high perception Sniper is the winner here sneak headshots on rocks. Reward is killing the strongests and most feared creatures in waste and getting lots of exp the quarry is not the only place with them. Mines help to if you using the conveyor ramps trust me they can get up there lol i always place mines for saftey if I use the ramps. I noticed that they only hard if you too low to be killing them which alot of pepople that say they hard do they go to kill them at level 8 and wonder why they die and have no sniper or energy wep with the good perks. I tried kill them at low level watsed so much ammo on 2 Deathclaws reloaded then thought wait till I level and then they died in 1-2 shots each from sniper.

It is an unfortunate fact that the Quarry isn't the only place that is host to an army of deathclaws...
I know of at least two that are chalk full of them.
Deathwind Cavern (the one with the bad@ss legendary deathclaw that can 1-shot you if you don't have enough health)
Deathclaw Promontory (yes the place freaking has Deathclaw in its name :banghead: )

Please explain to me why Deathclaws are so feared? I never had problems with them in FO3 or FONV.

More or less because I seem to have unusually bad luck with them. They like to gank me :sadvaultboy:
For Quarry it really isn't that hard to snipe all the annoying Deathclaws but in the Promontory and the Cave its way too easy for the annoying a-holes to get too close.

Sniper rifle + suppressor - I was plinking away at them from a distance and they were just looking around confused wondering where the pain was coming from when I hit them. Took about 3 shots per deathclaw (my guns skill isn't all that) but only the last one standing actually spotted me and charged, and he was dead before he got within claw's reach of me.

It depends how you handle them. They're feared because they're the toughest beast in the game (much tougher than FO3) but now, at level 25 and the weapons I currently have I don't worry at all. They never get close to me. Even that said, I did make a mistake at the entrance of Deathwind Cavern and quickly got killed because 3 of them got right on top of me. With my 100 Stealth, 100 guns and modded Sniper Rifle chambering .308 JSPs they are all one shots normally. With different weapons they are tough though. Even the standard DC is lvl 20 and dropping 100 DAM per swing so they are no joke when the get on top of you.

Stay up on the rocks in side the quarry walls.
use the anti matter rifle that can be bought, for a small fortune, at the gun runner's main location.
Buy tons of .50 rounds...
Take your time, and snipe away...

WARNING!
If your feet touch the quarry floor for longer then 30 Seconds...
You are death claw lunch meat!

Killing these SOBs was a great feeling. Tried it at around level 16 or so with an AM rifle. Got one shot off. Then they mobbed me and I got dead. Real dead. Real fast.

Got smart. Waited for late 20s, took a suppressed sniper and AP rounds. Top of a conveyor. Bang bang I shot those **@&$^#s down.

IMMENSELY satisfying. And I ate a deathclaw omelet after that even though I didn't need the sustenance.

Because they can actually kill you for a change?

Just like Cazadors, they ain't that tough individually, but they can gang on you fairly quick.

Deathclaws make me miss my dart gun from FO3 very much.

btw, I let the legendary live just cuz I felt it was the right thing to do. Just hope he doesn't leave the back of that cave.

There are a ton of deathclaw east of Techatticup mines. Go east and drop down carefully to the river. Go across the river to the path leading up onto the other shore. Most likely your companions will get stuck and not follow you across the river. There are a ton of deathclaw in that area. Be sure to check the whole area for loot, you will be pleased....if you live.
