Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 10:25 am

This is a thread for all the werewolves to come together and share their knowledge about Lycanthropy in Skyrim.
You will get tips and be giving or answering questions about mastering your beast form. Talks about your favorite hunting grounds and your achievements as a werebeast.

Note: This may be in the Dawnguard Cheats, Hints and Spoilers please keep spoilers in their respective tags as not all people have Dawnguard and we shouldn't ruin things for them. Also please refrain from going off topic. Thank you hope this helps for those who have questions.

Falkreath is my favorite place to go hunting, I will roam from Rorikstead to Ivarstead hunting the back side of the Throat of the world. http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj500/Justin_Peddle/Outlineofmyterritoey.png, there's plenty to hunt here and it ranges from dragons, hunters/bandits, deer, bear etc..etc.. It's a rather peaceful place for a werewolf to wander, there's just something about the forest at night that just seems peaceful to me. Gorgun ( my werewolf ) has been hunting the Falkreath area for quite some time now and knows the land like the back of his hand, it's gotten to the point now that he's gone a month ( in-game ) without turning back into an Orc. The best part about hunting in that area has to be the shelter you have from dragons, not only do the trees provide cover from air attacks but they also act like a snare when the dragon is on the ground making for easy pickens.
Here are a couple effective hunting tactics that I use, as of late I will change only during the night and will stay off the road but remain with in feet of it so as to ambush my prey, or stalk it for as long as I can, once I deem it fit to attack I will rush in and power swipe my prey so as to put them on their back and then it's game over. When facing 3-5 potential prey I run circles around them "herding" them into a circle(or closely bunched together) and will periodically make a 90 degree turn into the group taking swipes at whomever and will continue this until one or more break away screaming " I submit" or " We are routed" and finish them off away from the main group. I will continue this tactic until either the group or myself have perished.

Happy hunting

I love it! You even have your own hunting ground picked! That's so awesome

Ulthane is my Nord Werewolf. So far he's gone 2 full weeks (in-game) full wolf and hunted from The Rift to Hjaalmarch. Looks like he prefers the snowy barrens and woodlands of The Pale and Winterhold, only occasionally venturing south into Whiterun or Eastmarch sticking close to the Velothi Mountain range.

I've been hunting the Falkreath area for 4-3 months ( real time ) now, I even have a den that I use while out hunting, it was a bandit camp but I claimed it as my own

jusey1 provided us Lycanthropes with some unnoticed information...

( quoted from UESPWiki )

" If you have Dawnguard installed, this is not longer the case and werewolfs do again have armor rating, which however is no longer affected by any perk. The armor rating is 0 at level 1 and then increasing in 50 point intervals every fifth level, beginning at level 11. The maximum rating is 400 at level 46. "
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Werewolves read through the " Notes " section, it's the seventh bullet point with in the " Notes " section towards the bottom of the page.
So it would appear that werewolves have an armor rating once again, you add this into everything else you can do to boost your werewolf and your now a force to be reckoned with :woot:

So that means my lv 56 Nord werewolf female wearing max rating heavy armor keeps that armor rating in werewolf form? damn. would make sense how I can go through a bandit camp without really worrying to much about taking damage. Jump in the mix and toss bodies around.

I figured out how to trigger the different kill cams/animations too. Right handed attack gives you the tackle and rip apart animation. Left hand attack gives you the tackle and biting animation. Press both hands at the same time and the werewolf grabs the enemy and picks them up. Press right hand attack again and you get the biting/ripping off of the head. Press left hand attack and you instant kill toss the enemy through the air. Which is cool when in the forest, the enemy will bounce off trees

But you guys probably knew that. I just figured it out on my own. I can now get the killcam/finish move I want at any time.

Nice I never new that, I thought they where random. But now that you mention it.... I'm right handed and it translates into the game ( I always swing with the right arm ) which means that I ( for the most part ) always get the pouncing animation, I'm soooOOOOOooo storing this in the memory bank.
Yep max armor of 400 when in beast form, I think the armor cap in the game is 550 ( or maybe 650??) which isn't that much of a difference. I play on master with an armor rating ( when in Orc form ) of 360ish without much trouble so I'm just as tough in beast form as I am in Orc form

Now I'm on the PC but I would imagine left and right mouse are the same as left and right shoulder buttons on a controller for left and right hand attacks.

The PC is backwards though, left button does right hand attack... lol

Got an awesome pic of my werewolf stalking around inside the thalmor embassy... don't dare post it though. kinda nipply lol

But I like getting rid of the annoying Forsworn (my favorite snack) as I wonder about Skyrim.

Every so often I groom my fur and use the finest conditioner for it, "Hircine's Delight". Available at retailers everywhere. Also comes in a snowberry scent.

Ah, home again. Was a teensy bit put out when the Wolf Pack got moved to fan fic. Always sad when the purpose of a thread gets so completely derailed. Were ever I am, there i hunt. Those that argue end up in my wolf's belly. Freaking underacheivers staking out one little scrap of land when there is all of Skyrim to hunt in. Especialy with the new perk! :woot:
Savage Feeding is hands down the best thing to happen to werewolves in this game. With my snakeblood perk Chaurus are now considered crunchie tacos filled with hotsauce!

IF i was picking a territory how ever it would be Blackreach. Only the strongest can survive there and it has easy acess to most of the rest of skyrim.

Mostly how ever i've been prowling around the forgotten vale of late. The place is absolutely gorgious and feels like stepping into the Hunting Grounds, or what i beleive said place would be like.

helpful advice. While many of us are fond of blatantly abusing the Berserk ability :D*coughcarrotscoughcough* tere are a couple others well worth considering.
Dragon Skin. You will be hands down amazed at what is considered a magic affect in this game. Even the Giants ability to knock you into the sky is considered a magic effect and thus has a chance to be absorbed.
Histskin. once you get past the whole lizard/wolf bit, the ability to regen health like no ones buisines will turn you into an almost unstopable killer for 60 seconds.

lastly, Warcry/voice of the emporer. Both for the same reason. to give you room in the middle of a pitched fight to transform and even feed to replenish health.

Another helpful tactic for those who preffer a no-holds-barred style of fighting to the classic hit and run skirmish style. The werewolf is endowed with a fantastic power attack that sends people flying. This can be used as crowd control by knocking several enemies flat on their back, allowing you to make quick work of a single standing target with rapid swipes while your stamina regens. It's also highly effective if you can manuever your targets close to a ledge.

I have a question... on occasions when transformed, i get healed while not feeding, accompanied with an effect that looks like close wounds or the likes... any idea where that's coming from?

I do have many mods but none that would affect the werewolf. And no i don't use any followers, i was all alone

Oh, stupid me, does the restoration perk avoid death also work in werewolf form? Because if it does i apparently had a brainfart and we can all move along sorry :P

Forsworn are my favorite prey, right next to the Vigil of Stendarr. I hunt them with out remorse.

I love hitting people off of cliffs  The power swipe is a werewolves best friend, as you said it's very effective for crowed control along with being great fun just tossing NPC's around.

I think your right it's the Avoid death perk from the restoration skill, I'm pretty sure it carries over into beast form giving you a buffer zone when you fall below 10% healt but I've not tested it. If you want to transform in a safe area and pick a fight, let your health drop to around 10% and see if it happens again, if it does then it's the Avoid death perk keeping you alive.

It is nice to have a thread to talk werewolf
I still stalk the Falkreath area, it's something to do with the forest  but I do venture outside my territory from time to time, I have been spending most of my time hunting down deer and Elk but I will stop to eat bandits as well, along with any Vigil that cross my path. I'm 100% in agreement with you though, Savage feeding was a " God send " for us were's, it allows for quick healing if need be and it also gives " good werewolves " a chance to enjoy the beast form as much as the average werewolves and still gain XP without having to kill. The armor rating was a nice surprise as well, it's not effected by any of the armor perks but it does give the beast form some much needed toughness.

My only complaint at present is that fat juicy delicious vampires wich used to be my favorite prey are now permently off the menue :swear:
in all other respect it's total gravy. The new armor bonus came as a suprise as well. I'd thought my wolf felt alot tougher then the 150 health boost could explain. It wasn't until hunting around the forums that i saw WHY my lvl 70 mage-bane werewolf was tanking hits like a pro. in all honesty 400 armor is waaaay much more then my average character runs around in... then again my average character is in a fur loin cloth of some sort and feels acomplished when the armor rating nudges 200. lol

Why has there been word as to yay or nay ? From the sounds of things Heartfire is going to be another " dark " DLC that's focused on " evil " things, so if you ask me there's still a chance that they will add werebears.

The armor rating was a very big surprise, one that's very appreciated  For the most part my characters only have an armor rating of around 300-400 so my werewolf is now on par with my Orc form when it comes to defense, add in the amount of damage that my fully perked claws are now doing and it's a blood bath

Forsworn camps are easy pickings due to the fact MOST camps are outdoors. There are a lot of forts but without mods you get stuck inside really easily. With Savage Feeding perk, you can clear out the Markarth area of goats/bears/forsworn and be in werewolf form for days lol.
