Is the Dovakhiin headed down a dark path? *spoilers*

I think this was actually from one of the TES games or another game. I can't remember.

But ye'h. I'm not much of a hero or villain in Skyrim. More in between. I help the needed, kill the "evil", etc but I still love to assassinate fools, hunt as a werewolf, etc...

But I shall NOT serve Herma-Mora. I did what I needed to do to kill Miraak and gain some new powers. I have no need to do anything more for, or with, Herma-Mora.

Possibly, I just know it from "The Dark Knight."

Man... I really hate that quote. It's such a damn depressing outlook on life I can't believe people have taken to it so much. And to boot, if you actually think about it long enough you realize it contradicts the very point it's trying to get across. Its really ... really bad writing.

eh, I don't think about it one way or another... It's not exactly meant to be philosophical, rather it was meant to be 'foreshadowing'. Just a line meant for the movie. Buuut, one could RP this w/ the Dragonborn DLC.

Somewhat like (if you're seen it) the ending of "The Chronicles of Riddike."

Fight a big evil, only to become it.

Another great saying is:

“Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you.”

My character didn't have problem with the quest for Molag Bal... He just killed the Priest just after releasing from custody.

I didn't even think about that. Thank you so much. Now I can actually do that quest with my character, lol. After I got the daedric artifacts achievement, I always avoided that mission like the plague.

I do get the basic idea behind the quote, it's warning of the necessity/danger of power, but it's so depressing I can't get past that part. There are better ways to word it. Most of my grumbling towards it is due to how the Dark Knight fans took to it, if I were to be a fair person. But I don't really, so I generally take it out on the saying. Countless characters in all forms of media start off a badguy only to turn good. I much prefer Batmans quote of "There are lots of good people still in this city ... ready..."

Paarthunax said that to have dragon's blood is to have the will to dominate. The previous true Dragonborn (Talos) united Tamriel through bloody wars and set himself and his heirs as Emperors. Miraak was (fortunately) enslaved by Herma Mora because he was too blind and weak... Coincidence? Or do Herma Mora has an agenda for Dragonborns? Or did he gamble on Dragonborns' inert so-said "will to dominate" which will make them seek out arcane knowledges and gain power?

We don't know for sure that Herma Mora might be the Dovahkiin's choice of a Daedric master, because Malacath (via the very possible Orsinium) might be up next, or even Jyggallag (via Return to Shivering Isle). Myself, I'm sworn to Hircine because I'm a werewolf, but I'm also sworn to Nocturnal as a Nightingale, also Sithis as a DB Listener.

I think what Dragonborns have are choices; Miraak was robbed of his choices because he was a fool, and he fought with his life to gain them back. It is interesting to see what's coming up next, especially rumors flying around that we might decide the next King of Skyrim... In that case, I'll just seize the throne for myself and unleash my army of bandits, pirates, dragons and undead draugrs on whoever oppose me and take Tamriel for myself... Because I'm Dragonborn. :P

I can't really care how ominous it is unless I get a choice. 'When I choose a bad path myself in RPGs, that's ominous. As it is, Bethesda is forcing some choices and telling their story. I might as well enjoy it for what it is and see where they're going with it.
