The Fate of Caesar

Love him or hate him, Caesar is a major figure in the game, whose presence hangs over the Mojave until the battle at Hoover Dam is resolved. What happened to him on your first character's playthrough?

It was glorious. Boone, ED-E, and I stormed the Fort, (dressed in Power Armor, pumped full of chems-to add insult to injury) and didn't spare a single life (except the slaves and that trader, of course). I wish there was some way of keeping Caesar's head as a trophy, but alas, no such option exists.
I did make a Legion character, but I find it hard to support them, so it's my least played run-through.

My first play through wasn't typical. I did the bunker thing and never returned to Ceasar's camp.

On every other play through, I have cheerfully put him out of the world's misery. I talked to him, got his side of things, sure. But my Courier knows a maniac when he sees one. He dies. His followers die. His Legate dies. Every stinking one of them deserves it.

I even killed Caesar on my Legion character. I just couldn't take it anymore. I tried, Legion lovers, I tried.

Caesar dies in every game I've played to that point. His guards are one of the few difficult fights and I can't pass it up.

But I always try to let Boone kill Caesar himself, because I love Boone's line and it seems fitting. But I've occasionally done it myself. Have never sided with Legion yet, although I have 'made nice' a couple of times just so I could hear some of their dialogue & make some of them dance for me. Then I'd delete those saves and continue on my merry, Legion-hunting ways. :P

I don't even let Caesar talk, I just walk in shooting.

No matter in which point of my view, he is just arrogant, unwise and weak. He does not qualify to use the name of Caesar.

I rendered unto Caesar what was Caesar's. Three rounds of coin shot to the cranium from a hunting shotgun.

I quietly killed him in his operation. A weak old man is not a fitting ruler for the Legion. Hail Lanius!

I spared him so that he could watch his empire fall apart by my hand.

I teamed up with him, Lucius and Vulpes to form the new A-Team. (Sided with Legion, did not kill Caesar.)

So far everyplaythrough Ive done always ends up with Caesar dead

On my latest I stormed his fort with Mercy and lured he and his guards out of the tent to avoid splash damage and blew them up with Mercy

Yes. I "stormed" the Fort (not really; it was all stealth kills until I brought Boone in for the coup de grace on Caesar himself).

He was an obstacle.

My first playthrough, I'm not sure if I killed Caesar... but I've killed him other times. Long as I also kill the Legate, it's all right. I won't leave the Legion under the control of the Legate. He's a 25-carat sicko.

I sneaked in as a Legion and killed him while he was sleeping then bulletstorm the hell out of The Fort just with a huge supply of grenades for my trusty Grenade Machine Gun. :gun:

Spared him on my House playthrough because, as House points out, he's very useful as a counterpoint to the NCR.

Thinking about killing him on my Legion playthrough I've got going, as my melee cannibal is a power-hungry little bastard.

My first character never killed Caesar, but only because I never got round to visiting the Fort. I was NCR all the way and presumed I'd get a showdown with Caesar at Hoover Dam but that didn't happen, so I never actually met the guy 'till playthrough two. Killed him each and every subsequent time though.

Almost verbatium to what i just did last night except that it was Veronica instead of Boone, and i use guns and clothing. I also blew up houses stuff as well this play is full bore NCR supporter. If you will not make peace, if you interfere with NCR plans, even hint at being an obstruction then well your dead. I did go to great pains to befriend the BoS (attempting the passive approach) except for legion one does not allow vermin to run free they multiply even if the vermin are in pretty red dresses with flowers in thier hair prancing about like some modern dance troupe.

I also have ONE legion supporter character which i hated with a passion i finally after hours of tearing apart the Mohave at the behest of some maniacal doosh bag with delusions of grandeur that the over whelming need to shower became to great (like being around used car salesmen, hucksters are all the same, for too long) i just skipped alot of content just to finish the character so i could say i had at least one of every possible ending. I hated the play SO much it was 2 weeks at least before i could even consider playing the game again and another week before i played again with a new character, not disappointed by the return but i just do things differently now i just shoot legion on sight hunting the vermin putting it down like stepping on roaches, I kill Caesar as soon as the fort is opened and the game is entertaining again.

Very stupid reason, but I wanted to see what happened if I freed Benny.

Naturally, the only way to do that was to storm the Fort.

I would have spared Caesar, but 1) he punched me first and 2) like I said, I wanted to see what happened to Benny. <__<;;

Also, Independent ending, so ... yeah.

I kill him a lot even though he's probably the most interesting Legion character. First few times I killed him on sight, then I staerted talking to him, he had his brain fit thing and then I continued talking to him, dirtbag set his guards on me for talking, I just killed the lot of them, tore Caesars body apart and then played with his blood for a while.

I killed him since on my first playthrough I went with the NCR (since it is most likely the 'cannon' way to go) and I felt like rewarding Boone for saving me from Deathclaws time and time again. I wouldn't have a problem with him if it wasn't for the fact legion are so stereotypically evil it is boring...just kill, enslave, and kill some more before some disease experiment from a vault wipes them out.
