The Followers of The Apocalypse

I've beaten the game 4 times now, as every faction. Further, I've done NCR 3 times. I know the outcome. It doesn't seem out of character for The BOS. But riddle me this: Are those roads safer with BOS Laser Rifles on the scene? So what if your Energy Weapons are taken? People can't be trusted. Fiends are a hell of a lot more trouble for NCR with those Laser/Plasma Rifles and RCWs.

Take away what some people use to defend themselves to travel the dangerous wasteland, as well as to and from Vegas? Sound like a bunch of thieves and highwaymen to me. Bad for business too. Can't support them either way. Worse, because both House and Yes-Man require some highly advanced robots to bring law and order around the place (robots with auto-repair systems, missiles, grenades, and LASERS) that they may deem as "forbidden,", there's a pretty good reason these guys aren't something you can outright ignore, let alone tolerate. Hell, they haven't changed their pre-NCR war ways at all, what's to suggest they won't eventually decide to war against Vegas for the same reason they warred with the NCR?

Besides, if you don't think people can be trusted, then why should we place our trust in those big bad energy weapons to the Brotherhood? What makes them better than everyone else? Why are they worthy of them? Why should people have to abide by their rules?

Fiends kill people for their stuff. The Brotherhood of Steel kills people for their stuff. The only difference between them is their (slightly) less rediculous armor.

The problem is that the Brotherhood and House can never coincide peacefully. Mr. House lives in a device that allows him to live forever, in a tower that's armed with lasers, where he controls a robot army. Do you think that the Brotherhood would be cool with that?

the BoS only kill if they wont give it up the fiends were offered to stay in Vault 3 and instead slaughtered them all

Wait... You can incite war? How? I've never done that. Wouldn't Moore just go all "[censored] GANGS, I'LL DROP 500 TROOPERS ON FREESIDE"

Yes and No. Yes you can incite war by not telling The King about the envoy. No Moore couldnt. Hsu is in charge of troop deployments in the area, and if you choose to side with House. NCR wouldn't DARE to send troops into his territory.

It's not that they are knights. It's that they have survived this long and are as skilled and well equipped as they are. I love the deep familial relations between the BOS members. I would love if the Brotherhood would open up a little, allow members to find love outside of Hidden Valley and widen the gene pool. Those [censored]ers are dying slowly because they are so bound to the codex. If they would take a hint from The Followers the way Veronica wants to, they'd be perfect. Ideally, they become a client of the Followers. A protectorate. If they would just give a little then they would be the best faction in the wastes.

EDIT:
@Last Thing You Never See, The hopeless remember those who help them. Bill Ronte and Jacob Hoff are perfect examples of this. Humanitarian Efforts should never be seen as wasting anything.

How could the Brotherhood, a paramilitary organization, become the protectorate of a near-pacifist medical relief organization. You're asking the Red Cross to protect Blackwater here.

The BoS is disciplined and trained so would you want to have laser and plasma weapons that cant turn people to ash and goo in the hands of a reckless wastelander ?

Because they have been around longer, have the biggest guns, and I like the flavor of the faction. I don't like anyone encroaching on personal liberty, this is hypocritical. But dammit, I like the BOS.

No, but I won't strike preemptively. If they start [censored], I'll end it. I'm going to ask very nicely, for peace.

The Brotherhood are a tribal group with a self appointed air of superiority. Trust me, they're nothing exciting. Lyons Brotherhood are knights. Mojave Brotherhood are dikes. If they were the white knights their egos think they are, I'd feel bad. But trust me, I don't see them as anything more than better dressed raiders..

Tribal, eh? Try ties to the U.S. military, created by Maxson to react to a world of self-destruction.

And Mr. House's plans for colonizing on distant planets is going nowhere unless he finds a G.E.C.K. for terraforming purposes. And why waste a G.E.C.K. on a distant planet when you can use it right here?

The Brotherhood would be more practical in using that technology. And despite what House says, the BoS are not solely interested in Weapons technology. They have three branches of scribes, the sword, shield, and word. Just like how the Brotherhood commandeered the purifier, they would commandeer any technology that would benefit mankind. So no, auto-docs are not a high priority, because there only so much good that can do.

I think you should know that Lyon's BoS, how they are all nice and help humanity like they do... uh... would get them all killed by the West Coast BoS...

I support BOS, mind. But they are tribal. They are an advanced tribe. But they are a tribe. And who's to say there's no inhabitable planets out there.

All I can say about the BoS is that Lyons BoS is cool and all and I like the West Coast and Mojave BoS secrecy but....

Midwest BoS all the way man! :mohawk: Helping mankind and demolishing one "Berlin Wall" at a time.

No, they were sent East for a reason. There were tribunals about the matter, when there were disagreements, the "liberal" members were sent East because they wanted to take in recruits and share technology.

That's why the midwest and eastern BoS are like they are and why the West coast BoS are what they are.

Well, they're definately an interesting faction. Personally, I'm just glad the Mojave chapter doesn't say rediculous things like "Steel be with you".

Actually, that is only for the Midwest, and the Core BoS more than likely expected, maybe even hoped, that they would all be killed, Lyons was sent East for another reason.

I like the Techno-Religious stuff. I'm pretty aggressively secular, but if anything deserves worship it's a suit of T51-b and a well maintained AER9.

His orders were to assess and contain the Mutant threat and to collect tech. He is doing that, but D.C. the way it is and the Enclave at the throats of the Wasteland, the Brotherhood would not have survived if he did not build up the Brotherhood the way it is now.

If he gets in trouble because of the Outcasts, the argument is going to be either die in the face of huge threats or make the decisions he made. And I doubt the Capital Wasteland detachment will ever return west, because they know the kind of reception they will receive. Not the kind of reception, heroes deserve.

T-45d for me. I just like the ruggedness of the 45 instead of the symmetry of the 51. Than again, it might be because the first suit of PA I saw was the 45 but still, I just like the rugged look of it.

I like both. T51-b's symmetry makes it feel more knightly. I am a Follower at heart, but I can't help but love the techno-religious xenophobic group of highwaymen in powered armor.

That's part of the drama building up: "Will they change and be that faction so many want them to be?"

That's how you keep people wanting to know what happens next.

Spoiler: They won't. Brotherhood is a bulwark against change. As much as I love them, if they don't shape up and start accepting the best and brightest of the wastes (at the least!) they will fade away. A broken relic, like the Enclave.

So far the chances of them changing seem close to 0. So then they will deserve it if they collapse or are overwhelmed by a much larger opposing faction.

Oh, but the Capital Wasteland chapter's continued existence remains in question because at the end of Broken Steel you have the option of whiping them out.
