Opinons please. I'm on the fence.

I preordered it and picked it up on launch day. I have had only minor problems and nothing at all game-breaking or quest-breaking.

YES. Get it.

If you want to buy it for the PC, go ahead: There have been fan-made patches in the form of mods that fix a few things, as well as the ability to use console commands to rectify wrongs.

If you're on the console, might want to wait a bit longer.

I've only encountered very minor problems/glitches. I haven't seen anything worth making a fuss over. I think it's one of the best games I've ever played.

I never really had to many problems,in 50 hours of play so far it has crashed twice.

Buy the PC version, the community over there have worked tirelessly and have fixed quite a few of the horrible problems this game has. For FO, I'd advise PC - unfortunately my PS3 is linked to a bigger screen so I preferred it on PS3 display-wise.

EDIT: Console commands are a big positive in comparing console to PC, for me anyway.
Also I can not comment on the condition of the PC NV, but as far as I know the consequences of using it on the console are substantial.

Uh, the game's been ready for purchase since it was first released, OP. :shrug:

Besides the NPC slowdown issue that's now been resolved with the latest patch, my game ran perfectly without any patches at all. The only reason it crashed on me once in my 40 hours of gameplay is because I alt+tabbed out of the game, so it was my fault that it crashed.

I have yet to experience anything that breaks the game, again even without patches.

My verdict? If you liked Fallout 3 or even the previous Fallouts, and you're just thinking about getting it, GET IT!!! You won't regret it.
Especially if you're going PC.

The only bugs I have come across are weird graphical issues but even with the bugs it's a great game, plus they are already releasing patches. No need to wait.

I bought this on the day of its release (PC collector's edition), but still haven't gotten around to properly play it. Without having to worry when the next crash is gonna happen, that is.
So no, hell no. Next time this developer and publisher release a game, it's back to the good ol' rule of thumb "Leech first, buy later".

What's really mysterious to me is why Fallout 3 worked flawlessly.

I LOVED fallout 3, it's one of the best games I have ever played. Fallout 3 was pretty solid until later in the game, it got buggy and crashed frequently being sometimes unlplayable.

I haven't had any serious issues (frequent CTDs, broken quests, corrupted saves) during the time i've played (129 hours according to Steam). But each computer is an individual, i've played many "buggiest game ever" of the week without any issues :shrug:

I have it on the PC and have had very few problems (apart from forgetting to eat or sleep whilst playing this fantastic game), although I would advise setting Steam to offline while playing because I find that their advertising popups sometimes cause a CTD!

On PC I havent been experiencing any bugs or glitches. Performance about the same or better than fallout 3 for me.

Based on the quality of last week's patches you will be better off buying/playing now than after the big patch.

Yeah, it is a Bethesda tradition to add bugs via patches and DLCs :lmao:

I'll just say that New Vegas has reminded me why I have the rule: "Don't buy anything with Bethesda's name on it until the Gold/GotY edition comes out."

160 hours (3 playthroughs) so far on the Xbox 360 and only minor problems, nothing game breaking for me.....no real difference from playing Fallout 3 when it was first released, if anything I'm having less problems with New Vegas.

I voted good enough for me. I bought it for the 360, on launch day. Yes there is minor anoyances and stuff, but still having a great time enjoying the game.

I'm not sure if that's what's causing it. I don't think the popups actually pop up while you're playing, though they often will as soon as you quit a game. Also, you can disable the popups altogether in the steam interface settings.

In any case, playing in offline mode will disable achievements. Just thought that was worth mentioning in case anyone cares about them.

when you get out of the game a steam ad will pop up, it's mostl ikely your game crashed and then steam detected you exited the application so it shown the advertisemants.

Personally I would get it I mean there are bugs, but the bugs aren't that bad and some of them you actually have to make happen. As mentioned by Sojur there if you are getting it for PC OP the game has fan made patches to fix the problems. Not sure if a patch is in yet, but i'm examining the reloading bug myself and may have found some interesting data about it. Course i'm not 100% sure and have to do some testing to verify my claims.

As a general rule, my advice is to wait for the first major patch for any mainstream major game. i usually take my own advice. I also like to wait until cheat codes become available so that when bugs crop up (and they always do) I will have a means to get around them. It also helps because I know of no major game that is play-balanced out of the gate (and sometimes not for a long time) and I don't want my experienced ruined.

Having said all that, I broke my own rules and preordered the game. I'm not sorry I did.

Of course, I have the experience of playing all of the single-player non-DOS FO games as well as Oblivion; and I'm familiar with MODs, data files and the Console, so I have a leg up. I'm also well familiar with the Vault Wiki and these forums, so I know where to go for help. I also have the confidence gained from experience (that obviously many new here lack) that both Bethesda and Obsidian are religious in patching.

And for allof you complaining about Steam, you should just thank any gods you may pray to that it wasn't Microsoft Games for Windows Live! (shudder...)

I was not surprised to find bugs and game breaking crashes and driver incompatibilities—although disappointed, since the engine is so old.

All-in-all I would unhesitatingly recommend that PC users buy the game.

Good enough for me and would recommend to others, but I still vote no because patches needs to keep coming.
