Oh, another option I would have liked (again on an Xbox) is to put a shrine to one of the divines in your home. Why not? It would have been a great way to add another level to your character's depth.

I liked it for its location, simplicity, atmosphere, and cozy aesthetic. I might move back there from Windhelm to do more exploring in the Rift.

It is nice, but the city svcks though. I love waking up in Honeyside and taking the cloest door which leads me to my porch/dock right on the lake. Awesome.

Does the entire world turn against you if you kill those chickens, as well?

Nope, because they are MY chickens. :D

Why not buy a farm or brewery? we should have a working economy before we try that. otherwise the only thing you get out of your purchase is that warm fuzzy feeling that comes with slowly acquiring a majority stake in the whole world :P

Cleaning out people's homes in the wilderness and then being unable to sleep there because the beds are "owned," despite the owner being dead, is quite dumb.

So add that to the list. Why can't we "buy" homes through the death of the original owner?

i love your ideas dude. Perfect and exactly the kind of thing i wana see and im sure everyone else does too.

I'd marry Maven if I could...you've got to admire a woman with power and just a little attitude.

But by far my favorite place to live is the arch mages quarter. Not the room you get at the start of the quest line but the one you get later. There is a cool area with plants, torch bugs and magelights that is in the middle.

Yeah, if there was a smithing station (minimum of bench, wheel, and anvil) on the college grounds, that would likely be my "house".

Breezehome actually has a very good layout from a "productivity" perspective, lacking only direct access to enchanting (which is the least often used anyhow).

There's mods you can download that give you better living quarters. One is called "Dhoavakins hideout" and gives you a room that is accessible via a hidden door in the basemant of any house you've purchased (and allows you to exit to any of those houses). It comes with the full array of crafting stations. Another gives you a mega-home hidden in the mountains somewhere, much like the DLC for Oblivion did. Looks very cool, as the entrance is at the top of a spiral stairway made of a dragon's skeleton.

The Solitude mansion really isn't worth the gold AT all, go with Honeyside in Riften, Tiss epic with all available decorations.

I also like the house in RIften myself to. I just wish I could put the smack down on Maven Black Briar. I know everytime I see chickens I wish I could go and kick them.

Honeyside is perfect for my master thief and it sounds cozy enough for you too. There's an outside entrance which leads to a tanning rack and a little boat with (tragically unusable) fishing rods. The garden has been mentioned already, but it's another unique feature of the house. The enchanting and alchemy tables are in the basemant, which is quite practical for those just learning the crafts as it means any mistakes are much easier to clean up. You can also use the mannequins to provide upport for whatever enchanting project your working on. Furthermore, during the Thieves Guild questline, you get the deed for a large estate which has a hand in mead production.

Another nice house is Hjerim. The house is exceptionally spacious, with lots of room for added decorations. It is the only room with an armoury, which makes it an appealing home for smiths or weapon collectors. A secret panel guards the alchemy and enchanting room here, which is a nice deterrent for the thieves (Summerset Shadows) who have recently been reported in the Windhelm area. I would warn against placing unusally shaped valuables in the display cases and plaques. They can vanish or fall. I blame the thieves.

If you enjoy learning of history, Markarth is a fantastic location. The house is extremely easy to navigate as its layout is very well thought out. Enchanting and alchemy rooms are seperate and off to the side and if you have any kind of dagger collection, the display cases here are useful and plentiful. The architecture is classically dwarven with modern luxuries installed for convenience (such as a comfortable bed with a matress, rather than traditional dwarven stone). Unfortunately, the location of this house can be off putting to some. The Forsworn are an active presence in the Reach and there are rumours of Daedric worshippers and cannibals about. Be on your guard.

But then how can I put a Molag Bal shrine in my home?

I'd love to be able to buy property, hire people and improve. A meadery or castle would be awesome.

They should have put in a Battlehorn Castle type of thing. I loved that place in Oblivion.
Same. I do hope bethesda will listen to what the fans want.
