The Housing Market

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:12 pm

First, I've only bought Breezehome, so I need to ask if there are any houses that are more than just the house?

For instance, are there any houses with say... training yards, stables, forges, etc with them?

If there are, where?

If there aren't, why the hell not?

Farms... why can't we buy them?

Brewerys... why can't we buy them?

Etc, etc.

Those are good questions. We should be able to buy a pompous farm in Rorikstead.

Cleaning out people's homes in the wilderness and then being unable to sleep there because the beds are "owned," despite the owner being dead, is quite dumb.

So add that to the list. Why can't we "buy" homes through the death of the original owner?

Well I know the solitude house has mannequins to display armor, weapon racks and plaques, 3 floors, a alchemy room w/table, arcane enchanter, a back deck looking out onto the sea of ghosts, lots of book space, a safe, plus it's right next to the castle where they have a ton
of training dummies for you, and the temple is right there where you can choose from all of the shrines the game offers. Can't forget the clothes and jewelry shop, the shop that sells eveything, potion shop, and two weapons dealers and a Mage type dealer. I like living there because I have a few entrances to get in and alot of space for me stuff.

But by far my favorite place to live is the arch mages quarter. Not the room you get at the start of the quest line but the one you get later. There is a cool area with plants, torch bugs and magelights that is in the middle.

While that all sounds cool...

I would have been very happy with something akin to the Companion's place somewhere in the country that could be purchased.

I would have been even happier if you could hire things like trainers, craftsmen to make things for you, etc.

Well, there are more expensive houses than Breezehome that have better amenities, such as enchanting tables, mannequins for armor display, stuff like that. I think one even has a forge. No houses for sale outside of cities though, unfortunately.

Yeah, I know there are houses that a bigger and have enchanting tables and such of that nature.

What I am looking for are more... "complete" homes and why they aren't present. For instance, why no home with stables.

And just why are we still confined to the cities?

I like to be able to build houses in place that don't have them like winterhold or falkreath.

I'm always on the go, I could do with a storage shack myself, maybe a cot. But definitely not a cookpot...Ok maybe, but then why not go to the local bannared mare and have a few laughs, have some melodies, share stories, and best of all I could cook. It's wonderful :)

I like Honeyside in Riften because it has two chickens and a garden.

I liked it for its location, simplicity, atmosphere, and cozy aesthetic. I might move back there from Windhelm to do more exploring in the Rift.

Does the entire world turn against you if you kill those chickens, as well?

Xbox here as well. I always thought it would be cool to be able to buy a plot of land and build a "Wizard's Tower" out in the wilderness, on the tundra, or high in the mountains. I'd definitely make it some gawdy thing too. One MUST be a wizard with flare!

Breezehome's effectively got a forge because it's right next door to Whiterun's blacksmith.

One thing I like about Breezehome is that, as a Necromancer, you can choose to only furnish the bedroom, then leave the downstairs empty so it is a "body lockeroom." It's just really convenient.

I want to become the Willie Wonka of the milk trade with a magic-powered cow milking facility.

Calcium is misrepresented in this region and milk is a brave new industry to pursue! Those thick-skulled nords need strong bones!

Lol'd, blowing up a chicken away from all civilization is serious business.

THEY WILL FIND YOU.

They should have put in a Battlehorn Castle type of thing. I loved that place in Oblivion.
