The Life I've Lived

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 11:28 am

Good story. I'm sure it feels great to be at peace, and I hope I can be that same way when I'm your age. I also hope the rest of your years are enjoyable and well that you have quite a few left.

I am curious about one thing, something probably personal that you don't have to answer if you don't want of course. When you were in the Korean war, did you kill anyone? (might be a silly question cause it's a war and obviously people kill each other during wars but still) And what your thoughts on that are. I find it interesting to see how people view death in that manner.

Also major props to you for going into North Korea after being one of their old enemies. (Feel bad saying that word because you probably didn't have anything against most of them).

Thank you for sharing your story, sir.

I have the utmost respect for you considering your age and experience. My Grandpa was in the Korean War with the American Navy and I grew up with stories about it. You have so much to be proud of and I hope you continue to rightfully hold your head high in many years to come.

That was very touching. I often think about my life and if I'll ever even see a year eighty, so in that respect I believe you are very fortunate. Someone who's lived for so long can indeed live and pass with no regrets, and I dearly hope that my own life's final act will feel so fulfilling and, well, complete. I'm terrified of dying too soon, because my young, troubled mind has almost nothing but regrets at the moment. But that's not a very healthy way of living, is it? I'm very happy for you, A.G.Randad, and I hope the rest of your days are peaceful. You deserve it.

Your story makes my life seem utterly boring thus far. I hope one day I can look back on all my experiences in life, tell others stories about them and hope they will be just as engrossed as I was reading yours. Thanks for sharing. ^_^

I was taken in by this life story. I'm only 21 years old and I'm wondering what I'm going to do with my life. I have had a few girlfriends in my past, but nothing serious. I would really love to have a soulmate, or what you had with Li Min Hee. You must have so much wisdom and knowledge from all the places you've been and all the people you've met.

I am glad to have read this story today.

Awesome story. I also love hearing about the lives of people, especially veterans of war.
Thank you.

Perhaps not the wisest move putting it on reddit, because it ended up being 200 comments of calling the OP a troll and asking to provide pictures of his family.

Aha, no it isn't, son. Just a little image I found on Google. I took a liking to it artistically and it reminded me of myself, so I set it as my display picture.

Haven't read the entire thread, so no idea if someone else already answered this, but if I'm not mistaken, that would be the old guy from "Monster House" an animated movie. A very good movie over-all.

I loved reading your story. I didn't think I would, I just clicked on the thread out of curiosity, but was quickly drawn in by it. You're a very impressive old person, I can only hope I'm as active and intelligent as you seem to be when I'm your age.

Reddit sure is anxious to prove that every long story posted is a fake somehow. :P

That was a very wonderful read OP. I've often wasted a good portion of my time reading long winded posts. It's nice to read a post that I'd LIKE to spend more time reading. Your life is very sad, and yet very lived.

@Others- To be honest, on the assumption Grandad's topic IS just copy pasted, or a troll post. It's not going 'lulz dem fagets', being racist, or anything. It's a heart jerking and thought reflecting post. He isn't asking us for money, or attention, or his life to be a major motion picture. He just wanted to share his life with us. Even if OP is actually just posting this and claiming it as his own, what does it matter? It's a thought provoking post. As for Reddit, Reddit more filled with hate than.....a certian other website we aren't allowed to mention.

Touching and awesome story, wonderful life, thank you so much for sharing.

Have you heard of https://www.youtube.com/user/geriatric1927/featured, a blogger on YouTube? I remember when he first started vblogging in 2006 and the huge influence/impression he made on the YT community of that period (YT was very different back then). He's still vblogging today.

I know you wish to remain anonymous so doing something similar probably isn't in the cards, but if you ever did, I'd be watching. :)

Wow, that was a wonderful story; you've really lived the kind of life most people would dream of; so much sadness, and so much happiness.

Not trying to be rude or anything but how does an 82 year old end up on a video game forum?

I'm crying. Yes, I actually am. You had a great life and despite the horrors of war you managed to find something wonderful amongst the death and destruction. You did good and raised a good family. I can only hope to live a life as full as yours.

Probably the same way any person of any age does.

Thanks for sharing your story A.G.Randad. You served your country, loved someone with all your heart and raised a successful loving family, that is about as good as it gets. Well done. :)

People play a game, they want help or they want to discuss the game with other fans. They check out/go to a forum or whatnot. Age has nothing to do with that whatsoever. Or are you trying to imply people of a certain age don't know how to use a computer/internet? :ermm:

Just like we question how the youth of today know what a book or a record is. They explored the world around them. Surprising as it is, people do that.
